We are looking for a Business Analyst to provide value to stakeholders by (i) working with the Capital Mission to establish and implement strategic direction with well-defined results-based strategic and financial objectives; (ii) developing project plans for the Capital Portfolio, to ensure activities are planned, resourced, and budgeted in a consistent, effective manner; (iii) confirming that the plans are delivered consistent with Program Management Office requirements and funding constraints; (iv) generating monthly schedule and cost variance reports and compiling Dashboards, (v) driving for continuous improvements to the planning process, while ensuring compliance with regulatory and corporate requirements, and (vi) providing leadership, guidance and education to the Capital Mission on Earned Value Management System (EVMS) guidelines and finance and accounting practices.   • Lead the developing and maintaining of Capital report templates, including Cost Reports, Monthly Performance Reports (MPRs) and portfolio EVMS metrics dashboards
  • PowerBI Lead: create reports, update data and analyze output to ensure accuracy of information; ensures that mentorship is being provided to users and acts as the escalation point for the Business Analysts in Capital for troubleshooting
  • Ensure all Capital-specific procedures are in alignment with Program Management Office and company procedures
  • Assume lead and oversight role for the Capital Mission Annual Program of Work and Budget (APWB) development. Key activities include: developing annual budgets, schedules and commitments
  • Support the development and maintenance of the 5 and 10 Year Plan for Capital Projects
  • Lead monthly and annual monitoring and reporting on APWB and Performance Evaluation Monitoring Plan (PEMP) commitments
  • Oversee generation and assume leadership of monthly schedule and cost performance reports. This includes assisting the projects with the analysis of Performance and Cost data reports and variances on a monthly basis.
  • Assume a leadership role in improving trends implementation and accuracy of both Fiscal
  • Analyze Capital project performance, industry trends, and their impact on business operations; make recommendations on alternative courses of action, including cost reprofiling, resource demand and risk assessment.
  • Regularly gather, analyze, synthesize, and prepare presentations and briefing notes to inform Capital directors and the about planning and performance related issues.

What we are looking for:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline such as economics, finance, or business is desired; at minimum a Diploma in business management is required.
  • A minimum of eight (8) years’ of progressive, relevant experience with business planning and administration is required
  • A minimum of four (4) years’ of experience is required with EVMS implementation, financial and developing business operations / performance reports to clearly articulate emerging issues and communicate planned courses of action.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ demonstrated experience in a business management, policy analysis and in establishing and maintaining working relationships.
  • Experience in monitoring and tracking project execution and financial performance against plan.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with processes such as Request for Sanctioning and Project Change Requests
  • Strong experience with Primavera scheduling software including analytical and reporting skills is a must.
  • Experience with Cobra is an asset.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience in working with multi-disciplinary subjects/topics involving organizing, planning, coordinating, assessing, analyzing and presenting information and ideas.
  • Experience in reviewing strategic issues/topics and developing and writing business plans, reports, presentation packages, briefing notes and annotated agendas.
  • Ability to lead the development of complex reports with documenting, forecasting, analyzing investigating and interpreting and providing recommendations
  • Able to assume a lead role when coordinating effort associated with assembling reports from multiple stakeholders.
  • Competence and successful experience in planning and reporting within a team environment.
  • Competence and successful experience in budget planning, review, and portfolio management.
  • Analytical skills in specifically in the fields of fiscal year and project life budgeting, schedule analytics/quality management
  • Knowledge of advanced business planning and reporting methodologies, especially on a larger construction project for example, would be an advantage.
  • Solid understanding of the interaction of projects, operations, engineering, accounting, procurement and other support groups to fulfil site missions is desired
  • Advanced knowledge of planning and schedule development and reporting methodologies, processes and tools.
  • Advanced knowledge of EVMS guidelines is required.
  • Strong knowledge of project management software (P6, Cobra, PCRS, etc) and interdependency between them
  • Advanced experience working with MS Office Software, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Power BI is required

Location of Work – Hybrid

  • This role is based out of CNL’s Chalk River site, however, subject to the terms of this agreement, the primary work location will be remote. The role will require some regular and frequent attendance at the Chalk River site. The schedule and frequency will be determined by discussions with the manager as well as internal client and project needs. CNL may require travel from time to time, as necessary.
