Job description
Our Whiteshell (WL) location is looking for a Business Analyst to support the Business Operations, Performance Assurance (PA) & Quality department. Can you see yourself being a key member of the project team, providing reporting, planning, budgeting, scheduling and forecasting support to one or more projects? - Establishing and maintaining Control Account budgets and schedules.
- Defining the tasks and resources and sequencing the schedule to optimize the completion of the work.
- Building and maintaining project schedules.
- Developing accurate project plans for unique, challenging projects such as decommissioning a nuclear facility.
- Reviewing and approving all resources charged to the Control Account and ensuring their accuracy.
- Monitoring and assessing Control Account performance and preparing variance analyses, including providing trend analysis of all financial and schedule elements of the project.
- Preparing Estimates to Completion for remaining Control Account work scope.
- Providing forecast dates for accomplishing activities and milestones in the Control Account schedule.
- Leading the baseline change control process for revisions to the Control Account’s baseline scope, schedule or budget.
- Preparing dashboards and weekly/monthly/quarterly project reports and contributing to presentations to management, clients and other stakeholders.
- Developing, implementing and managing corrective actions as appropriate.
- Informing management of significant problems concerning Control Account performance.
- Evaluating current strategy to identify opportunities for improvement such as lower cost and faster achievement of deliverables/milestones to achieve high-performance delivery of projects.
- Managing all subcontractor effort that affects Control Account performance.
- Leading or participating in Make/Buy decisions.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- Minimum two (2) year college diploma or equivalent education and experience combined with a minimum of five (5) years of project management experience or a minimum of five (5) years experience planning and scheduling work, work management exposure, and have demonstrated the technical ability to assume responsibilities as described above.
- A project Management Professional or Masters Certificate in Project Management is preferred.
- Experience
- Familiarity with large industry site facilities and decommissioning or construction techniques and strategies.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with project baselines and earned value management.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) or a similar industry standard for project management.
- Skill in the use of computer programs, especially project management and reporting tools.
- Able to build consensus.
- Excellent integrity, respect of confidence, openness, credibility and sincerity.
- Aptitude to learn about nuclear decommissioning strategies and techniques.
- Positive attitude with respect to nuclear regulatory environment and required work planning and execution practices.
- Desire to help out where needed, vision to foresee future requirements /opportunities, good intuition, imagination, and judgement.
- Ability to coach peers, give constructive feedback and capability to empower others.
- Ability to organize and maintain the flow of work and accuracy of records.
- Must be punctual, dependable and safety-minded.
- Detail-oriented and has the ability to meet deadlines.
- Exceptional organizational skills, ability to prioritize and time management are required.
- The ability to understand detailed information is essential.
- Conscientious about accuracy.

- Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven ability to maintain successful working relations at all levels within the organization and with external stakeholders.
- Highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Must possess physical agility necessary to perform all aspects of the work that involves bending, lifting and mobility.
- Must be capable of wearing and working in protective clothing and using equipment as required.
- Ability to walk down equipment in the field.
- Must be able to work outdoors in a variety of temperatures ranging from +30 to -40 C and perform walk-downs in radiological areas
- May be required to perform overtime.
- We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day – starting at 6 am.
