Job Description
GE Vernova is seeking an experienced Business Engagement Director for its Consulting Services business in North America, a role that is pivotal in driving the region’s business development and commercial strategy. Reporting to the North America Executive, the Director will be instrumental in creating demand and maximizing revenue through increased orders. This role involves not only developing and executing a robust business development strategy but also acting as an active partner to external customers, industry groups, and within GE Vernova, itself. A significant part of the role is promoting consultative advisory engagements with external customers on energy transition and decarbonization solutions, aiming to drive enterprise value. The successful candidate will need to identify and shape the current and emerging techno-economic needs of customers, enhancing GE Vernova’s strategic and tactical product and service offerings. This position requires a blend of expertise in relationship management, strategic planning, and a deep understanding of power systems, generation technologies, energy system architecture, transmission and distribution grids and the overall energy sector particularly in the context of energy transition and decarbonization.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Actively drive business development in the region, delivering orders targets.
- Execute the commercial strategy in the region, focusing on customer segmentation, competitive differentiation, and key stakeholder access.
- Execute the growth strategy of Consulting Services with a focus on North America, via consulting engagements aligned with the priorities and growth of GE Vernova.
- Position Consulting Services with external stakeholders as well as ensuring a “one Vernova” approach among internal businesses and driving closer connections among the GE Vernova strategy organizations.
- Keep track of industry trends in North America and identify customer problems in order to inform, develop and execute strategic commercial playbook.
- Drive North America growth targets via collaboration with global Practice Leaders, with a focus on expansion of Decarbonization, Power Economics, Grid Integration & Stability offerings.
- Actively identify and cultivate new customers to create demand and business opportunities.
- Develop projects with customers; contribute to the preparation of proposals; and make customer/industry stakeholder presentations.
- Actively develop a strong partner network in the region with major consulting companies to jointly bid for large scale studies in power sector covering expansion planning and energy transition.
- Develop new and leverage existing industry and customer partnerships: developers/investors, utilities, system operators/owners (TSOs/DSOs), regulators, NGO, cross sector disruptor companies, energy industry organizations, etc.
- Be an energy industry influencer as an active member/leader in Industry forums/events to promote GE Vernova solutions and technology.
- Help create a high-energy collaborative work environment with a sense of identity and pride.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in electrical, mechanical, electric power engineering, physics, economics or mathematics, or related fields.
- Energy industry experience at a senior level in North America.
- Established network with policy making bodies, multilateral funding agencies, financial institutions, power plant developers and wider energy organizations in North America.
- Demonstrated horizontal thinking and influencing, translating into a track record of winning proposals and managing delivery of large multi-organizational projects, as either individual contributor or project manager.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills (e.g. ability to effectively communicate with all levels of GE and stakeholder/customer/plant staff), strong written and oral communication skills and usage of contemporary media and tools consistent with demonstrated experience in consultative selling.
- Ability and willingness to travel a minimum of 30% of the time, as required.
Desired Characteristics
- Master’s degree in business administration, Economics, Finance or Public Policy.
- Demonstrated experience with consultative selling.
- Demonstrated experience in business/deal negotiations.
- Working relationships with TSOs/Utilities/Government.
- Deep understanding of power systems operations, planning, regulations, power systems equipment application, etc.
- Experience in energy regulatory issues and energy policy.
- Ability to motivate and influence individuals and Teams.
- Lean mindset.

For U.S. based candidates only, for purposes of complying with U.S. pay transparency requirements, the base pay range for this position is $108,600 – $181,000.
The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s experience, education, and skill set. This Senior Professional Band position is also eligible for a Variable Incentive bonus of 15%.
*The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas.
