As such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.The Business Operations Coordinator participates in the design, development, implementation and operation of business administration and information management processes to effectively support BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH) senior management and the BCCH physician group. Provides consultation and advice to physician leads by supporting appropriate interpretation of contracts and agreements. Acts as a first point of contact and resource to physician members by providing information and direction and following up with relevant personnel on service planning and evaluation initiatives. Maintains databases related to physician administration and coordinates the collection and collating of data, including workload and service statistics, for internal and external reporting. Completes and submits human resources and financial documentation as required and manages recordkeeping and accountability systems.What you’ll do

  • Acts as a key liaison between physician leads and individual physicians, participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of service planning. Coordinates planning requests and developing service plans under the guidance of the Manager or designate.
  • Coordinates the day to day internal processes for physical activity recording and reporting. Provides information management and analytics support to BCCH senior management by developing, interpreting and maintaining up-to-date databases, and documentation for physician activities to meet senior management and Ministry of Health-mandated reporting requirements; this includes activity and time-based reporting of physician activities.
  • Provides consultation to physician leads on resource plans for clinical and non-clinical services; provides advice on complex terms and conditions of contracts and agreements related to physician services.
  • Makes decisions in process design for collecting, storing and reporting of physician workload data. Analyzes and interprets data related to physician recruitment and escalates issues as necessary.
  • Monitors quarterly physician workload and service deliverables by tracking and compiling data, analyzing, investigating, interpreting and reporting on variances to fulfill Alternative Payment Plan (APP) contract obligations to the Ministry of Health.
  • Acts as liaison between BCCH Medical and Academic Administration and PHSA departments (Physician Compensation, Finance, Payroll and Human Resources) by sharing information, clarifying details, responding to queries, resolving issues and/or ensuring follow-up by relevant personnel. Maintains a thorough understanding of departmental policies and procedures in order to provide service planning advice to physicians, providing alternative solutions or escalating to Manager or designate.
  • Participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and procedures for new and existing initiatives in the portfolio area.
  • Provides support to senior leaders and information for physician services planning and development including business case development for new funding applications and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Facilitates implementation of business process changes and assists in the development of educational and standard operation procedure documentation for processes related to physician services.

What you bringQualifications

  • A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree in health, business, public administration or related field supported by at least three (3) to five (5) years related experience in business, operations and financial management, in particular physician administration.
  • Ability to self-manage and coordinate multiple projects concurrently. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to use database, spreadsheet and word processing software at an advanced level. Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

Job Type: Regular, Full-TimeSalary Range: $67,861 – $97,550 /year. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan. Salary will be prorated accordingly for part time roles.
