Job Summary

The Director of On-Campus Recruiting reports to the Director of Player Personnel. This position oversees and manages the on-campus recruiting activities for the football program. This includes several key recruiting processes including designing, organizing, and managing the on-campus recruiting (official and unofficial visits) and game day experience and strategies for all prospective student athletes. Additionally, the position assists with the transition to college life as incoming athletes come to campus to join the team.

What You’d Be Responsible For

Create and oversee the On-Campus Experience for Prospective Student-Athletes 

• Develop a unique experience for each prospect and their families on official and un-official visits
  • Oversee the selection of proper representatives from the team to host recruits on official visits
• Create itineraries for all official and unofficial visits of prospective student-athletes
• Ensure that itineraries and activities are in compliance with all applicable NCAA and University requirements
• Execute the published itinerary in a professional and efficient manner
• Coordinate all game day recruiting activities
• Communicate with Support Staff and Coaching Staff to maximize engagement with prospective student-athletes in on-campus experiences during game days, official visits, and unofficial visits

Develop and execute an annual Master Plan for On-Campus Football Recruiting

• Develop a marketing strategy and on-campus experience for prospective student athletes that is competitive and enticing
• Evaluate and change recruiting experiences annually based on NCAA rule changes, competitive environment and new opportunities/experiences
• Maximize opportunity of On-Campus recruiting visits by evaluating our processes compared to other programs and adjusting as needed

Create and manage the game day experience for recruits and their families

• Plan recruit experience on game day to maximize the impact of visits during the season
• Work with Director of Player Personnel and Director of Recruiting to ensure personal attention is given to high profile recruits as chaperones on game day
• Evaluate game day experience and continually work to perfect and update the experience to maximize positive impact

Assist with HS, Junior, and Cubs Summer Camps

• Work with Director of Football Relations to organize and supervise football summer camps
  • Work with BYU athletics sports camps administrators
  • Create daily schedule of camp activities
  • Develop a football coaching and fundamentals curriculum to be accomplished during each camp
  • Coordinate awards for campers 
  • Ensure that child safety policies are followed by all employees
  • Coordinate the hiring of football coaches (approximately 120) for camps under the direction of the Chief of Staff
  • Facilitate their applications and compliance with BYU employment policies

Assist Director of Player Personnel with management of recruiting database

• Input information on prospects and oversee student workers (4) who input information
• Use information to track contacts, communicate and evaluate prospects

Mentor football student-athletes

• Learn the names and develop relationships with all football student-athletes
• Serve as an advocate for student-athlete well-being and diversity
• Serve as a resource and mentor for student-athletes
  • Work one-on-one with student-athletes to assist in their transition from high school and missions to BYU
  • Work one-on-one with student-athletes to help develop their leadership skills and work through difficult team, individual and family situations
• Work with student-athletes who did not graduate from BYU to help them return and complete their degree
• Create and implement individual development plans to ensure student-athletes¿ needs are addressed and met as they relate to academics and/or personal goals
• Help student-athletes acclimate to their roles, both on and off the field
• Help develop and maintain locker room cohesiveness

Special Assignments

• Work closely with Chief of Staff s as needed on special assignments

Compliance

• Be well-informed on NCAA rules 
• Have a working knowledge of and support and help ensure that football staff and coaches comply with the following:
  • NCAA and sport policies, specifically those related to the football
  • BYU Athletics and BYU policies and procedures.
• Work with compliance directors to satisfy departmental requirements
• Complete any necessary periodical NCAA forms

What Qualifies You to Apply?

Required: 

• Bachelor¿s degree and 1 year collegiate or professional athletic playing/work experience or related field or equivalent combination of education/experience 

Preferred:

• Bachelor¿s degree and 5 years of Division 1 or Professional Football playing or job experience
