This position will be located in Marietta, GA or Greenville, SC. The successful candidate will act as a deployable quick response Field Support Engineer (FSE) and FSE Field Training Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Field Sustainment Technical field training team. Successful Candidate will provide continuous multidiscipline FSE training and FSE Subject Matter expertise to Aeronautics Field Sustainment FSE’s CONUS and OCONUS.

The FSE deployable Field Subject Matter Expert will be responsible for onsite field training material development/documentation, sustainment/upkeep, and facilitate training events to ensure LM FSE’s are proficient in resolving issues arising from maintenance or modification activities for all matters dealing with the C-130J aircraft. The preferred candidate should have an accomplished background as a C-130J Field Support Engineer and ability to deploy as needed to support various field assignments with troubleshooting and analysis of aircraft Avionics/Electrical and a good knowledge of all aircraft systems. This senior level FSE Field SME will need to stay apprised of field issues and adjust onsite FSE training tactics accordingly based on engineering dispositions and Action Requests (AR).

They must be willing to work and interact with all level of personnel from maintainer communities to Integrated Product Team (IPT) engineers, other companies and all levels of leadership. Candidates must be able to work with and communicate well both orally and written in a team environment as this position involves significant interface with FSEs and customer personnel at all levels. Candidate must be a self-starter. Manage and track multiple engineering and logistic support activities, providing periodic status to the customer and program management team. Act as the primary Field Training interface for the FSE Core and Aeronautics Field Sustainment.

Must be willing to:
– Travel CONUS and OCONUS frequently to support FSE training progression.
– Fill in as the Onsite FSE at locations needing onsite customer technical support both Operation and Maintenance.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Accomplish troubleshooting and analysis of difficulties experienced in the field.
  • Attend debriefings to aid in the rapid identification of emerging issues that require company intervention to avoid aircraft downtime.
  • Document all unusual operation / maintenance problems to ensure the company is apprised of and can identify emerging failure trends.
  • Initiate Action Requests (ARs). Identify unique operational problems that require technical, procedural, or quality assurance actions to resolve. Provide on-site assistance to company and customer personnel.
  • Provide training to customer personnel. Must be able to work and interact with the maintainer as well as the professional engineers from other C-130J companies as a peer.
  • Some travel required; candidates must be willing and able to deploy with customer to possible hazardous duty locations. Long term deployments may be required. US Department of Defense (DoD) mandated vaccinations may be required.
  • May be required to perform touch labor on occasion as needed.
  • Must be a United States citizen. Must possess at minimum an Interim Secret Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain a Final Secret Clearance.

Basic Qualifications

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

  • Minimum 6 years’ experience serving as a C-130J systems specialist with Vehicle Systems and Avionics-Mission Systems experience
  • Technical writing skills
  • Training experience (formal or informal)
  • Extensive background in drawing/schematic

reading and interpretation

  • Fault isolation and problem analysis

experience at the sub-system level
DTADs experience.

  • Must be able to obtain a Secret level Security Clearance.
  • Must possess a valid US passport

Desired skills

  • 8 Years experience serving as a C-130J systems specialist.

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
