If this sounds like you, then you already have the skills that make a great Healthcare Support Worker.If shortlisted, you will be invited to an exciting in-person Assessment morning on the 5th September whereby you will have the opportunity to meet our amazing teams and find out how valuable your role as a Healthcare Support Worker will be.The assessment will be held at the Bethlem Royal Hospital.Main duties of the jobWhat we need:A positive and caring attitudeChildren and young people focused careEnthusiasmA determination to do a good jobWillingness to learn and undertake trainingEvery day, you will make a huge difference to the lives of the young people we care for, delivering a high standard of care alongside your colleagues.Working under the direct supervision and guidance of a Registered Nurse/ Senior Health Care Support Worker/ Assistant Practitioner/Nurse Associate to support the delivery of quality nursing care, contributing to the physical, psychological, social, recreational and spiritual care in a recovery focused way through therapeutic engagement and activities, and taking steps to address any issues that arise.This role will require the postholder to provide hands on care in the prevention, management, and de-escalation of violence in in-patient settings, using approved techniques. The postholder(s) will be required to undertake Seni Lewis training (and assessment to be deemed competent) to obtain the required skills in the prevention, management and de-escalation of violence.About usSouth London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust provide the widest range of NHS mental health services in the UK as well as substance misuse services for people who are addicted to drugs and alcohol. Our scope is unique because it is built on three major foundations: care and treatment, science and research, and training.The Trust employ around 5000 staff and serve a local population of 1.1 million people. We have more than 230 services including inpatient wards, outpatient and community services. - English and Mathematics basic qualifications (eg GCSE at grade C or above) or equivalent

- Level 2/3 Health and Social care qualification / working towards qualification
Experience and KnowledgeEssential
- At least one year as a Healthcare Support Worker, or equivalent level of experience.
Skills and abilitiesEssential
- Able to provide quality care that is responsive to service user’s needs, without close supervision, and acting on own initiative, within protocols, policies and care plans.
- Approachable and Self-aware and demonstrate an ability to self-reflect.
- Positive attitude even when dealing with distressing situations.
Desirable
- Training and experience in specialist skills such as ECG, Vital Signs, Phlebotomy
- Experience in facilitating groups
