The James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (JPUH) is seeking to appoint a Cardiology Consultant .The postholder will have responsibility for providing a Cardiology service in conjunction with four visiting and one fulltime Cardiologist.The position provides an excellent opportunity for a suitably qualified specialist to actively contribute to the further development of a modern Cardiology service within this highly regarded Trust with its wide range of acute and community services, which will afford high professional visibility.Please Note: Job Description currently with Royal College for approvalMain duties of the job * Share work load with Consultant Cardiology colleagues.
- Provide with the other Cardiologists a system of mutual cover for annual, study and professional leave.
- Provide a consultation and advisory service to medical colleagues in other specialities in the Trust.
- Liaise with medical staff in other specialities and participate in the regular clinical meetings and other post-graduate activities of the hospital.

Education and Qualifications
Essential
- MBBS or Basic Medical Degree
- MRCP or equivalent
- Hold a certificate or be within 6 months of completion of training/being on or eligible for the UK Specialist Register at the date of interview.
- Full GMC registration
Desirable
- Possession of ALS
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Wide experience in Cardiology and General Internal Medicine
- Ability to provide expert clinical opinion across a wide range of problems within Cardiology
Academic Achievements
Essential
- Ability to use research outcomes in clinical practice
- Knowledge of using evidence base medicine to support decision making
- Experience of conducting clinical audit
Desirable
- Involvement in research projects and published papers
Key Skills
Essential
- Computer literate
- Ability and enthusiasm for teaching health care professionals and medical students in a Cardiology & General Medicine setting
- Capable of organising and prioritising work effectively
- Motivation and ability to plan and develop the service
- Leadership qualities
- Willingness to participate in clinical governance
- Conscientious and highly motivated with the ability to communicate clearly with colleagues and staff
Desirable
- Experience in teaching medical students and allied health professionals
Communications and Language Skills

- Ability to contribute an open culture with good communication based on open dialogue and active listening
