You will assist the Senior Electoral Services Officer in maintaining the Electoral Register and absent voting lists and be involved in organising elections and referenda.You should have good customer services skills and be able to deal with elected members, political party representatives and the public. You must be a good team player, have excellent attention to detail as well as an understanding of the importance of political sensitivity.You must be willing to study to obtain the AEA Certificate in Electoral Administration and have a commitment to both personal and professional development.This post is politically restricted.Main responsibilitiesPlease refer to the job description and person specification for full details, but in summary, the main aspects/requirements of the role are:

  • Assist the Service Manager (Communities) and the team with the effective and efficient delivery of the electoral registration process, annual canvass, all elections, referenda, statutory ballots and periodic reviews.
  • Assist with the preparation, compilation, publication and distribution of the Register of Electors
  • To undertake the day to day administrative tasks relating to maintaining an accurate register of electors, including processing the addition and removal of electors both online and paper format under Individual Electoral Registration (IER). Process applications that have failed verification or are otherwise incomplete.
  • Undertake duties with the preparation and organising of the annual canvass and election training materials, and maintain and update staffing lists as required. Carry out stock taking and maintenance of all equipment.
  • Assist with electoral awareness campaigns including the design of registration forms, canvassing materials and support publicity and other campaigns to encourage public awareness and voter participation.
  • Flexibility in terms of hours worked to meet deadlines. This may include occasional evening and weekend working, especially during election periods.
  • Any other duties which are in line with the grade and general level of responsibility of the post.
