Description :SummarySlegg Building Materials is seeking a Full-Time Category Manager – Power Tools/Fasteners/Hardware to join our team. The salary range for this position is $60,000 – $75,000 annually.The Company
Slegg Building Materials is a division of GMS Canada. For 77 years we have celebrated being the largest building materials supplier to the construction industry on Vancouver Island.

  • Act as an ambassador of the company with all employees and customers.
  • Maintain an emphasis on a safety culture, customer service, and efficiency as top priorities.
  • Responsible for category management and product life cycle from purchase to point of sale.
  • Make changes to the product line as needed to increase revenue stream.
  • Respond to sales staff regarding customer’s queries about products and or opportunities.
  • Work closely with key customers to uncover issues and concerns as well as potential market gains.
  • Track product turns and identify issues or concerns.
  • Manage inventory levels and prepare exit strategies where applicable.
  • Coordinate with Rebuyers to manage min and max levels of inventory.
  • Market and advertise category products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and market competitors.
  • Attend industry events and trade shows to gain product awareness.

Requirements

  • Post-Secondary education in Supply Chain Management/Business or related field is an asset.
  • A broad understanding of building supplies is essential; specifically fasteners, power tools, hand tools, hardware.
  • Intermediate level of Microsoft Office Suite- including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Demonstrate candor; ability to respectfully challenge.
  • Results orientated; proven record of executing projects over the finish line.
  • Comfort/familiarity with constructing presentations, organization communications, and business cases.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and networks with multiple functions at all levels.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation skills.
  • Self-starter and independent worker.
