Catering Assistant – Commercial Services

The main purpose of this role is to prepare, cook and serve food and deal with customer enquiries and requests. The post holder is expected to maintain very high standards of customer service and food/ beverage quality at all times.

Key Responsibilities are to work with the Commercial Services Team Leaders to ensure an efficient and effective service to customers. The post holder will be expected to prepare, cook and serve high quality food on a daily basis. The post holder will need to ensure that the Service’s brand standards are maintained at all times. The post holder will also ensure thorough cleanliness of their designated work areas and that equipment is maintained to a high standard. The post holder will need to operate CPOS tills, ensuring the integrity of cash and electronic payments by following all financial procedures.

Essential Criteria

We require a minimum of a Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate, a good knowledge of Health and Safety, food preparation and cooking experience and an appropriate level of numeracy and literacy skills.

About Us

Commercial Services is a department within Newcastle College. We have 11 outlets ranging from large refectories, coffee shops, 2 Costa Coffee shops, a convenience shop and a bar for our HE students. These outlets are spread across the Main Campus on Scotswood Road and several outlets at our satellite sites including Riverside Dene at Cruddas Park, Rail Academy in Gateshead and the Aviation Academy close to Newcastle Airport.
