BACKGROUND:

Global Support and Development (GSD) is a humanitarian organization whose mission is to work with communities for resilience to crises through rapid response, disaster preparedness, and climate adaptation. GSD is committed to being locally led in the work we do. We value collaboration and seek opportunities to amplify the work of others in-country, both in preparation for and in response to disasters. By integrating our team’s diverse skill sets and resources into local responses, we are able to provide rapid response assistance to affected communities in coordination with regional and country-level partners. We also work to strengthen local capacity through community-led preparedness initiatives. GSD’s priority Area of Engagement is the Caribbean and Central America, with targeted support to the South Pacific (and expected future increase in operations for 2024 and beyond).

This position is part of the Partnerships and Programs Department which is the driving force in developing and maintaining external relationships. The Partnerships and Programs Department is housed in the Strategy Section and comprises Information and Program Quality, Communications and Security.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Central American Partnerships Specialist will support the development of Global Support and Development’s (GSD) Partnerships in Central American. This position is an external partner-facing role that supports the development and implementation of partnerships, both existing and new partnerships, while ensuring that GSD’s partnership proposition remains compelling and relevant to GSD’s mission. The role will also support the scoping and implementation of GSD Capacity Strengthening and Response.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Support the implementation of the outreach strategy for the Central American, working collaboratively with key internal stakeholders across departments including the Director of Partnerships and Programs, the Central American Partnerships Advisor , Response, Capabilities and Maritime teams;

  • Research and monitor humanitarian, rapid response, and community resilience partnership trends ensuring that the GSD’s partnership proposition remains compelling and relevant to GSD’s mission and the region;
  • Facilitate management of existing partnership relationships, including day-to-day planning and engagement; meeting minutes and other administrative tasks; including regular updating of the relationship management plan;
  • Support with stakeholder mapping and other initiatives to identify and develop new partnerships through stakeholder mapping;
  • Conduct research and provide briefing materials to help engage and vet potential partner organizations, as well to develop country profiles;
  • Support the coordination of GSD’s partner engagement activities to promote the services of the organization, including philanthropic actions;
  • Provide administrative assistance to all partnership and program activities by scheduling meetings and capturing meeting notes, logistics support, pre trip briefings and debriefings, attendance and registration, and other related administrative tasks;
  • Help facilitate internal GSD and external partner-focused communication, including updates on relationship development, engagement opportunities and outcomes, and annual impacts;
  • Maintain updated Customer Relationship Management (CRM) records for partner portfolios;
  • Support drafting of success stories for internal and external audiences and lessons learned;
  • Prompt and action GSD’s core values of accountability, humility, and integrity in all work we conduct;
  • Promote good stewardship of financial and other resources to achieve maximum benefit to those impacted by disaster or at risk of impact; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required Experience:

  • At least three (3) years of progressive work experience of partner/stakeholder management preferably in a Central American context; involving partnership identification, outreach, and cultivation;
  • Administrative and coordination experience, ideally with an NGO;
  • Experience implementing or supporting donor-funded projects to advance rapid response and resilience;
  • Management of events and partner-facing initiatives;
  • Desirable lived and worked experience in the Central American region;
  • Project or program management experience is desired;
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and ideally Google suite; and
  • Knowledge of Salesforce is an advantage

Required Education:

  • BA in humanitarian affairs, communications, marketing, international relations, public relations or related field; or
  • Equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including presentation ability;
  • Cultural awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with a wide array of stakeholders to build relationships;
  • Ability to coordinate multiple events and activities simultaneously under pressure and with attention to detail;
  • Discernment for confidentiality concerning organizational, partner, and donor activities and communications;
  • Ability to seek and listen to diverse perspectives and foster a culture of learning;
  • Strong problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to adapt quickly and change course as the situation requires;
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to rapidly shift tasks;
  • Experience working and/or traveling domestically and internationally; and
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Spanish and/or French is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • At this time, GSD is not offering sponsorship and is only accepting applications from persons eligible to work in the United States; and
  • Routine domestic and international travel up to 50% is required.
