Wellbeing & Safeguarding – Operations & Community Wellbeing (Wellbeing & Student Support Admin)Position Type 1Full Time, Part TimeHours 1(FTE: 0.5) 18.25 hours per weekSalary 1£29,605 – £32,982 per annum, pro rataAbout the Role 1The Chaplaincy Co-ordinator will often be the only team member available in the Chaplaincy and therefore is the ‘face’ of the Chaplaincy and responsible for dealing with a full and challenging range of issues: distressed students, grieving parents, concerned tutor etc. Because of this the post requires independent working and the post holder will need to be able to demonstrate initiative to direct students to Chaplains, wider pastoral support and other areas of support on campus, as appropriate.A large proportion of the role is administrative and project management, and therefore the post holder needs the ability to organise a busy, heavy workload and deal with various tasks simultaneously and be able to juggle competing priorities.Most Chaplains are at the University only part of the time and therefore liaison needs to be carefully managed and coordinated. In addition, the decision making structures are flat/ collegial, which means the Coordinator needs to ensure that mechanisms are in place for input into decisions from all and to understand when delegated authority can be applied.   • Experience of working as part of a team and independently.
  • Experience of working in a sensitive and diverse environment.
  • Experience of project management of defined, time-limited projects.
  • Relevant applied administrative experience (procurement, corporate record, action logs, diary management, communication systems and good experience of use of MS-Office applications).
  • Experience of monitoring and managing budgets.
  • Experience of university/higher education administration or equivalent relevant experience (desirable).
  • Ability to apply judgement to understand which issues can be resolved directly and which will require referral to a Chaplain or University support service.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, written, verbal with both groups and individuals).
  • Ability to lead Chaplaincy team meetings and to present to a group.
  • Tact, diplomacy, sensitivity and an ability to work in a confidential environment.
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure and prioritise and work to deadlines while recognizing and upholding boundaries.
  • Ability to project manage work with multiple dependencies and contact points.
  • Ability to work independently using own initiative.
  • Experienced user of Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, Outlook as well as experience of managing social media and content editing of web pages.
