**Please ensure you download, save and read the Job Specification **Location of Post:Community Healthcare East (CH06)/ Cúram Sláinte Pobail ThoirThere is currently 1 permanent whole-time vacancy available in Community Health & wellbeing, Public Health Laboratory, Cherry Orchard Hospital, Ballyfermot, Dublin 10.A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Medical Laboratory Aidefrom which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.Purpose of the Post:The purpose of this position is to undertake routine tasks in support of Medical Scientists to help ensure the effective operation of the Laboratory and appropriate service provision to all users.Details of the Service:The Public Health Laboratory, HSE, DML, has a microbiology INAB accredited (ISO 15189 and ISO 17025) scope providing national and regional public health microbiology services including national reference gastro-enteric disease services. It is also an official designated food testing laboratory (EU 2017/625) and a COVID-19 testing laboratory.The Public Health Laboratory (PHL) provides the following services:· A National Verocytoxin E. coli clinical reference service.· A national Campylobacter reference service· A National C. difficile reference service· A National Verocytotoxin E. colidiagnostic clinical service accredited to ISO15189 and accessed by Consultant Microbiologists, Laboratory Directors, Environmental and Public Health services.· A Regional Public Health Microbiology service accessed by the Environmental Health Service and Public Health Doctors.· A local clinical microbiology diagnostic service for hospital in-patients and General Practitioners in the surrounding region.· A food testing service under contract to the Food Safety Authority of Ireland.· A water testing service for the environmental health departments and acute hospitals in the Dublin area.· The food and water microbiology testing is accredited since 1998 by the National Accreditation Board to the current ISO 17025:2005(E).
