DescriptionThe Christmas Toy Drive Supervisor provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis. The purpose of this position is to oversee theToy Drive for The Salvation Army Christmas Program in the Halifax Regional Municipality.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Arrange distribution of Toy Drive program
  • Arrange pick-up of toys and donations
  • Field all calls and inquires about the Toy Drive Program
  • Contact past participants to discuss their willingness to participate again
  • Take orders for Toy Drive Packages and arrange for delivery at the specific time
  • Follow up leads for new program participants
  • Prepare booklets for Toy Drive Participants
  • Work closely with the Toy Warehouse Supervisor to arrange for the delivery of toys to the warehouse
  • Assist in the toy room as needed
  • Record and summit all cash donations and forward to the Director for recording and deposit
  • Other duties related to the program that may become apparent on demand and circumstances
  • Assist when possible with the packing and inventory of remaining toys
  • Send acknowledgements to all program participants and Volunteers

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a grade 12 certificate
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to contribute as a team player, projecting a positive professional and helpful attitude
  • Ability to do systematic organization
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Honest, courteous, and punctual; represent the organization in a positive, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Must be flexible and teachable
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion (i.e., The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check screening.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills

TIME AND PLACE:Hours of work are from 8:30am to 4:00 pm (Monday – Friday) with a ½ hour of unpaid lunch.Two 15 minute paid breaks. There may be a need to work on evenings and weekends.
