How can you make a difference? 

UNICEF is looking for an intern to support the Climate-Resilient Education team. The Climate‑Resilient Education Intern will provide entry‑level, learning‑focused support to the Global CRE portfolio by assisting with coordination, documentation, knowledge management, and basic research related to climate‑resilient education. The internship is designed to offer practical exposure to UNICEF’s global education and climate work, while supporting ongoing initiatives, technical assistance tracking, and internal knowledge‑sharing efforts.

The intern will work under the supervision of the Education & Climate lead and will support day‑to‑day tasks that contribute to effective coordination and learning across teams. The intern will support the Global CRE team with the following foundational and supportive tasks:

1. Coordination and Administrative Support

• Assist in organizing and tracking incoming requests related to climate‑resilient education work (e.g., logging requests, maintaining trackers).
• Support scheduling of meetings, briefings, and learning sessions (including drafting agendas and taking notes).
• Help maintain shared folders and internal platforms with updated CRE materials and resources.

2.  Documentation and Knowledge Management

• Support documentation of activities related to climate‑resilient education initiatives, including meetings, workshops, and learning exchanges.
• Assist with summarizing key discussion points, decisions, and action items from calls or consultations.
• Contribute to technical materials, case examples, and internal reference documents.

3. Research and Learning Support

• Conduct light desk‑based research on climate‑resilient education topics, tools, or country examples, as guided by the supervisor.
• Support preparation of simple background notes, summaries, or slide inputs for internal use.
• Assist in compiling examples, lessons learned, and emerging questions from country or regional engagement.

4.  Internal Engagement and Learning Activities

• Support internal learning or Community of Practice activities (e.g. participant lists, meeting notes, follow‑up emails).
• Assist in gathering feedback from internal users on CRE materials or tools.
• Support basic communications related to CRE activities (e.g. drafting short updates or internal announcements).

5. Green Skills and Youth‑Led Climate Action Support

• Support basic research and documentation on green skills and climate‑relevant skills within climate‑resilient education initiatives.
• Assist in compiling and organizing examples of youth‑led climate action linked to education, learning, or skills development.
• Contribute to internal knowledge sharing by summarizing good practices, learning points, and emerging themes related to youth engagement and green skills.

 To qualify as an advocate for every child you will … 

• Be enrolled in or have graduated in the past two years from an undergraduate, graduate, or Ph.D. programme in a relevant field such as education, climate change/environmental studies, international development, social sciences, public policy, sustainability or related disciplines.
• Have relevant experience in a related field, such as academic research projects, coursework related to education, climate or development, volunteering, internships, or student initiatives.
• Prior professional experience in related fields is an asset
• fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

Insurance:

UNICEF will not be responsible for costs arising from accidents and/or illness incurred during the intern’s service, whether on or off UNICEF premises. Therefore, the selected candidate must provide valid proof of enrolment in a health/accident plan prior to starting the internship. The insurance certification should cover the whole internship period.
