IntroductionThe Parliamentary Health and Wellbeing team is a nurse led service delivering to the House of Commons, House of Lords, and the Parliamentary Digital Service (a joint department of both Houses). Most services are delivered to around 4,000 employees with further support and advice provided to the 650 individual Members of Parliament and their 3,000 employees together with services to 800 peers within the House of Lords.The RoleThe Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible for creating a safe and healthy working environment that supports the work of the multidisciplinary Health and Wellbeing team and contributes to client engagement across Parliament.The Clinic Nurse Manager is responsible to ensure that the nurse team maintains professional standards, complies with regulatory, legal or statutory requirements, delivers optimal services.This role has management responsibility for two full-time Registered Nurses.Some of the responsibilities for this role include:
- Lead and manage a dynamic walk-in clinic nursing team with accountability
- Develop, maintain, and lead strategic and operational relationships across Parliament and with trusted partners to support service excellence and enhance client experience
- Coach and mentor members of the Health & Wellbeing team, working in collaboration to a shared vision and team goals
- Lead, co-ordinate and manage clinic nurse rosters, clinical supervision, professional development, events scheduling and forward planning to ensure seamless daily service delivery
- Evaluate patients’ response to health care provision and the effectiveness of care, making recommendations on actions to improve
Skills and ExperienceTo be successful in this role you will demonstrate:
- Qualifications: The successful candidate must be a qualified and Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC professional register, with supporting qualifications in minor illness, minor injuries and triage. The successful candidate will have extensive experience and qualifications to support clinic walk in services, minor injuries, illness, and triage.
- Urgent Care, Minor Illness & Minor Injuries: Experience in delivering, managing and leading primary care services to defined outcomes and delivering a competent in-house clinical service. Ability to delegate appropriately, adopting the principles of safe practice and evidenced assessment of nurse competence.
- Improved Patient Care: Experience in enhancing patient care by optimising processes, clinical benchmarking, implementing protocols, clinical guidelines, and continuous improvement. Ability to adhere to statutory and practice requirements such as the GDPR and FOIA.
- Best Practice: Experience in leading on the maintenance of robust clinical governance systems for the practice nursing teams, by assessing the effectiveness of care delivery and third-party services through peer review and audits. Experience in the full Microsoft 365 suite.
- Diversity and Inclusion: Ability to work as a self-directed practitioner, with the ability to collaborate, whilst upholding the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Learning & Development: Ability to self-develop in regard to learning and performance, taking the lead in clinical supervision and acting as nurse educator. Ability to lead others to make realistic self-assessment of their knowledge and skills, challenging complacency and actions.
