To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.NHS Tayside Psychological Therapies Service is pleased to offer a rare and exciting opportunity for an 8A Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to work within the Adult Eating Disorders Service (0.5 wte) and the CAMHS Eating Disorders Team (0.5 wte).Adult Eating Disorders Service is based within the NHS Tayside Psychological Therapies Service premises at 15 Dudhope Terrace, Dundee, and provides outpatient clinics in Dundee, Angus, and Perth and Kinross. The service offers specialist assessment and treatment to adult sufferers of, primarily, Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, and their variants, having access to psychological, medical, nursing and dietetic interventions, and administrative support. The service also seeks to support the work of colleagues managing eating disorders at the Primary Care and Community Mental Health Team levels within Tayside, through consultation, teaching, training and research. The Adult Eating Disorders Service forms part of the North of Scotland Managed Clinical Network for Eating Disorders, and, through this, has shared access to 10 inpatient beds at the Eden Unit, Royal Cornhill Hospital, Aberdeen.CAMHS Eating Disorders Team is co-sited with the adult service on the Dudhope campus, located between the CAMHS General Outpatients Service and the Young People’s Unit for the North of Scotland (which provides inpatient care for those with complex needs, including eating disorders). The 0.5 wte CAMHS sessions for this post will be for outpatients only. The CAMHS Eating Disorders Team is nurse-led, with input from medicine, dietetics and family therapists. The team is similarly involved in non-patient-facing activities and enjoys close links with the adult service. A key role of this post will be to help ensure smooth transition of young people moving across services.The post holder will join both multidisciplinary teams in providing highly specialist interventions to young people and adults diagnosed as suffering from an eating disorder and their carers. The post will offer excellent opportunities for collaborative working, both within a multidisciplinary team and with a range of professionals in the wider health and social care system. There will also be regular opportunities for involvement in CPD, teaching/training and research. Professional and managerial supervision will be provided by the Consultant Clinical Psychologist/Lead Clinician of the Adult Eating Disorders Service.The recent publication of the Mental Welfare Commission and Scottish Government’s reviews of Eating Disorder Services, together with the recent revision of the SIGN Guidelines for Eating Disorders, mean that this is a time of significant interest and investment in this area of work. The post holder will be expected to have some knowledge, if not experience, of eating disorders, and an enthusiasm for team working. The post holder’s main base will be in Dundee, but the capacity to travel to external clinics across Tayside will be required.Tayside has a population of approximately 400,000, and comprises the localities of Dundee, Angus, and Perth and Kinross. It offers the perfect blend of city, country and coastline, and has many sights of natural beauty and historical significance. Dundee is officially Scotland’s sunniest city, and is a UNESCO City of Design in addition to the home of the V&A. Dundee was also recently confirmed as the site for Scotland’s own Eden Project. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
