Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust are inviting applications for a Clinical Fellowship in Structural Heart Intervention with a focus in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI)The Royal Papworth Hospital TAVI fellowship aims to provide interventional cardiologists who have already attain sufficient experience in coronary intervention training in TAVI and other SHD interventions.We envisage that the successful candidate will be fully competent in all aspects of the TAVI pathway including initial patient assessment, TAVI patient work-up and valve implantation. This will include large bore access under ultrasound guidance, the use of a variety closure devices, experience in peripheral intervention either for the management of complications or facilitation of transfemoral TAVI, use of embolic protection devices and implantation of both balloon-expandable and self-expanding TAVI systems. At least 75% of the fellow’s time will be pure hands on TAVI and other SHD intervention training with 15-20% dedicated to pre- and post-procedure patient reviews and the TAVI MDT. 5-10% of time can be spend on TAVI CT training and research interests.Main duties of the jobThe Fellow will be involved in all allocated TAVI implants.CT analysis and reportingAortic Valve MDT — alongside our TAVI specialist nurses, the Fellow will assist with the co-ordination of the MDT, work-up and presentation of in-patient and out-patient casesStructural Heart Disease MDTStructural Heart Disease Intervention daysTAVI patient assessment and follow-up clinics — under direct supervision of the TAVI consultant teamAbout usRoyal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK’s leading heart and lung hospital, delivering care to more than 50,000 patients a year in its new state-of-the-art hospital in Cambridge. - This is a TAVI and SHD intervention focused fellowship. Applicants should have gained already competence in PCI although opportunities will be available to participate in ad-hoc PCI lists.

- Exposure or experience to balloon aortic valvuloplasty and/or TAVI and/or other SHD intervention is desirable but not necessary.
ExperienceEssential
- Appropriate knowledge base and ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problem. Demonstrates awareness of the basics of managing cardiac disease
- Shows aptitude for practical skills eg manual dexterity, hand-eye coordination
