Job description

The Clinical Manager, functions according to the Accountability Statement for Clinical Managers. Specific responsibilities include: managing the day-to-day issues related to staffing and care delivery while facilitating the development of leadership skills in staff; facilitating the development of the interdisciplinary care team which is integral to the Program; facilitating an environment which supports creativity and innovation in the delivery of patient care services; promoting an environment which supports clinical excellence, continuous learning and measurement and evaluation; and ongoing development and monitoring of budget utilization and unit-specific data in order to measure and evaluate the quality of care within the Program.
The Clinical Manager works in partnership with the Clinical Director and the Medical Director for Psychiatry and the Program Leadership Team, in collaboration with Professional Practice Leaders and other key stakeholders to ensure high quality, effective, evidence based and efficient services and care are provided. Evidence of collaboration among Clinical Managers to integrate and coordinate services within programs and across sites is a prerequisite for success. The Clinical Manager will foster innovations which improve child and family service outcomes by facilitating collaboration between the clinical service and research resources.
The Clinical Manager is responsible to sustain and create strong relationships with community stakeholders and partners through existing and new forums. The mental health program, by its very nature, plays an integral role in community planning, improvements and initiatives to continuously improve the mental health care for children, youth and their families. The role supports the existence of “care beyond the walls of the hospital” to ensure strong collaborations and successes working alongside community partners.Qualifications1. Bachelor Degree in one of the Health Disciplines preferred or a combination of other relevant academic background and experience.
2. Relevant clinical experience in child & youth mental health services.
3. Demonstrated leadership and management skills.
4. Demonstrated understanding of mental health issues and challenges for children/youth and families with mental health needs and the interventions and treatments applicable.
6. Demonstrated excellence in communication, critical thinking, team building and the ability to initiate and model positive change
7. Experience in monitoring and managing budgets
8. Demonstrated commitment to continuing education/learning
9. Demonstrated ability to manage conflict and conflict resolution
10. Demonstrated innovation in addressing the needs of children and youth
