Be a part of our mission to provide our customers with best-in-class cargo and vehicle screening systems and services so they can combat terrorism, trade fraud, drug and weapon smuggling, and illegal immigration.The Commodity Manager is responsible for managing procurement expenditure and product related services, this must also include the development of the Strategic Relationships with existing, former, and future Suppliers.Responsible for ensuring requirements are met on time and in accordance with the appropriate quality standards, delivering a highly capable and cost-effective supply base, focus must be on developing and implementation giving leadership and direction to the commodity management teams and other areas of Supply Chain management, when required.This role entails operating at a Management Level with a high degree of autonomy, whilst managing, mentoring, and developing an effective Commodity Team response globally, delivering cost effective solutions for our Cargo sitesIn this role, you will define and own the capability, strategy, and operational excellence of your assigned commodities.You will develop key innovation sourcing activities, promote risk aware sustainable procurement, enhance the capability of the Procurement teams and promote the Procurement function internally and externally.You will be a trusted advisor in creating the procurement of tomorrow and work side-by-side with stakeholders to deliver best in class products.Responsibilities

  • Ensure an effective sourcing environment leading to continuous improvement in quality, cost, service, and technology of our current and future offers.
  • Identifying new product development opportunities. Seek out ways to automate & simplify manual processes in order to improve productivity and have outstanding project management skills
  • Key member of NPD/NPI team supporting the product roadmap to deliver an efficient supply chain for future sourcing requirements.
  • Maintain expertise/knowledge of market trends including comprehensive review of market drivers, cost structures, technical improvements and competition landscape and build business cases for new product opportunities.
  • Leverage the Global Commodity team for specialist assistance where needed.
  • Proactively work supply chain impacts and obsolescence issues.
  • Support multi-site procurement projects.
  • Manage KPI’s to ensure quality and delivery standards are fully maintained. Support in the development, coordinate and steer category strategies for the relevant commodities.
  • Lead, motivate, support and develop your procurement team members in Strategic Procurement.
  • Drive efforts concerning supply base rationalization and supplier development.
  • Ensure we are Leveraging synergies across the OSI Systems procurement groups.
  • Ensuring the cost, quality and time-oriented supply of all required products and services in line with the respective business plans, budgets, targets, and strategies.
  • Contract Negotiation: Cost, quality, delivery, cash, compliance and ensure full adherence to the business standard contracting terms and conditions, whilst ensuring any specific customer requirements are captured and flowed down to mitigate any exposure and risk to Cargo supply chain.
  • Conflict Management: In the event of non-performance to the contractual terms, quotation or legacy agreement. The Commodity Manager will act as POC to resolution.
  • Ownership of the Strategic Relationship: The Commodity manager will ensure there are regular internal and external Strategic Reviews which will include all Senior Key Stakeholders, reviews will cover all significant commercial, industrial performance and performance and forward deliverables.
  • Manage new supplier sourcing and selection – ensuring a value-based relationship and proposition. Responsible for the assignment of supplier and buyer set up when sourcing of new or revised products. Select appropriate new or incumbent suppliers as necessary per AS&E guidelines.
  • Support the Make or Buy decisions, prepare data and plans for relevant commodity gate reviews. Responsible for the dept ECO (Engineering Change Orders) effectiveness in providing and implementing supplier material disposition. Active member of CCB (Change Control Board).
  • Work within documented procurement / planning system that complies with ISO guidelines.

Qualifications

  • You will be a creative person who loves products, loves solving difficult problems and “getting it done”.
  • Experience in procurement and Supply Chain Management processes, including but not limited to quality management, financial analysis, and contract negotiations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business administration or Supply Chain preferred as well as previous purchasing experience. In leu of degree 8-10 years of sourcing experience.
  • Minimum 10 years’ commodities purchasing experience including but not limited to; IT, electrical/electronic control & automation, mechanical, and fabrication.
  • Operations experience with five (5) years’ experience in procurement/materials/inventory management a plus.
  • MCIPS / APICS membership, equivalent or qualified by experience.
  • Experience in negotiation and supplier relationship management.
  • A proven track record in achievement of cost reduction in purchased parts and or services.
  • Proven ability to work well with others at all organizational levels, to organize and prioritize, and to participate on cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Min intermediate and proficient user of Microsoft office suit, including Microsoft Excel (V-look up, pivot tables, formula work would be a clear advantage in this role).
  • An experienced and proficient user of MRP/ERP software (Microsoft Navision / D365 Dynamics would be a clear advantage).
  • Experience with Agile PLM.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and cost drivers, and supply market dynamics.
  • knowledge of ISO quality assurance methods.
