The School offers flexible programming designed to provide students with a strong foundation for understanding the complex and dynamic relationships between people, health, illness, and organizations in contemporary society.The School of Public Health & Social Policy is situated in the Faculty of Human and Social Development (HSD), a multi-professional faculty with a commitment to the student experience of dynamic learning in extraordinarily rich practice and community setting for vital impact on health and social development.The Communications and Distributed Learning Program Assistant, focuses on communications and marketing, provides support for online learning platforms like Brightspace, Echo360, Zoom, and MS Teams, and manages the administration, maintenance, and support of Learning Management Systems for the School of Public Health & Social Policy’s various program streams, including the Bachelor of Arts in Public Health (BAPH), Master of Public Health (MPH), and Social Dimensions of Health (SDH) – MA/PhD.Job RequirementsExperience:
This position requires a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to 2 years of experience working within a comparable environment. Administrative support experience within a post-secondary setting is preferred.Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

  • Website management and social media platforms, their respective participants (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram etc.) and how each platform can be optimally deployed in different scenarios.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to change and learn new software.
  • Strong technology support skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications (i.e., MS-Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, content management systems).
  • Flexible and adaptable with procedural and technical changes.
  • Excellent organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective prioritization and management of workloads.
  • Detail-oriented with high accuracy and minimal supervision.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making abilities.

Preference will be given to applicants with:

  • Knowledge of BANNER, FAST, Course Reserves, Cascade, Brightspace, Echo360, Handbrake, Audacity, TextPad, and Connect.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware, particularly audio and video components.
  • Familiarity with UVic programs, policies, procedures, and business systems.
