During a recent review, the team described our workplace as friendly, inclusive, supportive, passionate, and hard-working.About the roleWe are seeking a Communications and Events Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will support the organisation’s communications and event activities. You will organise in-person events, manage social media accounts to engage stakeholders effectively, and contribute to clear communications that align with organisational objectives.Working with a friendly and supportive team, you’ll play an important part in making our programming successful and reaching more people. This role is a great opportunity to grow your skills and make a real impact.The Communications and Events Coordinator will report to the Chief of Staff. We offer a flexible hybrid working environment, with a minimum of two days per week in the office.Who we are looking for:Someone who excels at building strong relationships across an organisation. You enjoy working closely with teams to understand their needs, align communications with broader strategies, and deliver clear, unified messaging that supports organisational objectives.Someone with proven experience in all areas of event management. You are skilled at multitasking, prioritising, and managing multiple projects while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are consistently met. You bring a thorough, well-organised approach and attention to detail, delivering work to a high standard.Someone who communicates clearly and effectively, with the ability to interpret and present information persuasively for diverse audiences. You’re also detail-oriented with excellent proofreading skills.A proactive and adaptable individual who is ready to take on a variety of activities as the Network’s team, programmes, and members are constantly evolving.The UN Global Compact Network UK has a broad remit, but the Network Secretariat team is relatively small, so the Communications and Events Coordinator may be required to support other activities from time to time.In your first 6 months:To help you settle quickly, we will provide a thorough and comprehensive onboarding. Through meetings with key colleagues and online training, we will help you to become familiar with our way of working and our value proposition.While you get settled, you will support the organisation with communications, and event coordination, and have the opportunity to become more familiar with existing activities. In due course, you will take on responsibilities of the role, such as supporting specific communications initiatives, and contributing to event planning.Key Responsibilities – after onboarding, we will expect you to:Communications: In collaboration with the Chief of Staff, this role will support communication efforts to ensure consistent messaging across the organisation. It involves drafting external communications in line with the organisation’s approvals process, ensuring all messaging aligns with our 2025 work plan. It also involves proofreading external communications, ensuring a level of excellence expected from a United Nations organisation.Social Media: Support the organisation by overseeing our social media accounts, ensuring all content aligns with organisational standards and effectively engages target audiences. Implement marketing plans assigned by senior leadership to raise awareness of initiatives and events, ensuring they resonate with stakeholders and amplify the organisation’s reach.Event Support: Assist in organising in-person events, coordinating logistics and high-quality delivery. Collaborate with teams to develop targeted invite lists and promote events through appropriate marketing channels, increasing engagement with existing and potential stakeholders while ensuring maximum attendance and impact.UN Global Compact Office Coordination & Engagement: Coordinate with our global communications team to understand their plans, ensuring our content remains relevant while avoiding repetition or overlap for our UK audience.What we offer:Hybrid working – After onboarding, a minimum of two days in the office per week, working from home 3 days per week.Flexible working once discussed with your line manager.
