Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:

  • Champions a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Supports the Senior Manager, Canadian Banking Communications in strategic communications support for the Executive Vice President, Canadian Retail Banking, including leader communications and executive thought leadership opportunities. This individual will be expected to write high-impact content while working closely with key partners and the broader Global Communications team to share best practices.
  • Drives the creative development and execution of high-impact, engaging content, including:
  • Supporting internal and external communications for the EVP, Canadian Retail Banking, including business line and corporate initiatives, industry topics, and other thought-leadership opportunities.
  • Assisting with the planning and execution of proactive media relation campaigns for various business lines in the Canadian Bank.
  • Developing editorial calendars and content rollouts.
  • Collaborating with the Creative Studio to develop multimedia and graphics supporting communication strategies.
  • Sharing best practices within Canadian Banking/Enterprise Communications and the broader Global Communications teams to support a best-in-class function.
  • Supports the development and execution of external PR campaigns for Canadian Banking, which includes:
  • Developing and issuing press releases.
  • Proactively engaging media outlets.
  • Preparing spokespeople for media opportunities.
  • Develops excellent relationships across Canadian Retail Banking, Canadian Banking, CB Communications, Global Communications, and Enterprise functions to strengthen internal and external brand identity.
  • Assists with the logistics and production of internal events (e.g., town halls) and strategic planning activities supporting Canadian Retail Banking leadership.
  • Manages community engagement and supports internal communication channels for the Canadian Bank.
  • Contributes to issues management and media relations for Canadian Retail Banking, including:
  • Developing and circulating issues documents with recommended actions and statements.
  • Acting as a liaison between the business and media concerning reputational risk issues.
  • Manages communication requirements for branch consolidations by:
  • Developing key messages and supporting documents for Canadian Banking leaders.
  • Supporting scripting and training for mandatory town hall meetings.
  • Managing media inquiries related to branch closures.
  • Understands how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles. Ensures adherence to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk standards.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed? We’d love to work with you if you have:

  • 4-5 years of experience in Communications, preferably within financial services.
  • Manages multiple projects and initiatives efficiently under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in developing Communications and Change Management strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to craft effective content.
  • Deep understanding of Canadian Banking’s structure, strategy, and network relationships.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into digestible messages.
  • Understands corporate environments, pushes boundaries, and justifies innovative approaches.
  • Strong knowledge of digital tools (e.g., Photoshop, Canva) is an asset.
  • Effectively balances competing priorities, from content development to event planning.
  • Builds strong relationships and asks the right questions to execute impactful campaigns.
  • Communicates dense information clearly and professionally.
  • Stays informed on communications channels, media landscapes, and emerging trends.

  • Fast-paced that may require overtime during evenings or weekends to meet tight deadlines.
