Collectively we are responsible for shaping the organisation’s public image, enhancing our reputation, and fostering positive relationships with key audiences through effective communication channels and messaging strategies.As the organisation grows, we’re looking for a Communications Officer to join the team to manage both program and external communications. Your role will ensure that information dissemination is smooth, effective, and timely, supporting ARK’s mission and values.What you’ll be doing as Communications Officer

  • Help manage the content and updates for the organisation’s website and social media platforms.
  • Support the creation of press releases, annual reports, and other public communications.
  • Coordinate with media and other stakeholders to enhance the organisation’s public profile.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify communication needs and develop suitable strategies.
  • Assist in handling project communication challenges by providing timely and strategic information.
  • Create and maintain project documentation and case studies.
  • Manage a comprehensive repository of ARK imagery and video content, ensuring easy accessibility for internal and external use.
  • Engage in monitoring and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Provide administrative support for the communications department.
  • Attend workshops and conferences as required.

RequirementsEssential

  • Professional experience within strategic communications, PR or related area OR post-graduate internship experience.
  • Experience with digital communication tools and platforms, including content management systems and social media.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of social media compliance (privacy & data protection, content ownership, intellectual property infringement, etc.)
  • Skill in actively listening, empathising, and fostering open dialogue, facilitating mutual understanding and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage complex projects, timelines, and resources, demonstrating strong attention to detail.
  • Initiative and proactivity to pre-empt problems and seize opportunities.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, including the ability to collaborate, build relationships, and contribute to a positive team dynamic.
  • Genuine interest in the topic, actively seeking opportunities for learning and engagement.
  • Adaptable and willing to accept changes, while maintaining effectiveness.

Desirable

  • Professional proficiency in Arabic, French or Spanish
  • Experience within the international NGO/donor-funded sector
