UN Women has a lead role in helping to drive commitment and action on gender equality, women’s rights, and women’s empowerment as the imperative of our time.The Executive Directors Office (EDO) provides support to the Executive Director (ED) and the Deputy Executive Directors (DED), the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), in the delivery of their functions, especially that of providing overall executive direction and leadership to UN Women. The EDO supports the ELT in providing vision, establishing priorities, fostering coherence amongst the senior management team, leading advocacy, ensuring overall management, oversight, and accountability.CSW69/Beijing+30 will also mark the ten-year milestone towards the achievement of the Agenda 2030, and the imperative for gender equality to be positioned as both a pre-requisite and the accelerator of all the SDGs. SDG 5, together with SDGs 3, 8, 14 and 17, will also be under review at the High-level Political Forum on SDGs (HLPF) in 2025, under the theme “Advancing sustainable, inclusive, science- and evidence-based solutions for the 2030 Agenda and its SDGs for leaving no one behind”. It is only when the world delivers on gender equality, rights, and the empowerment of women and girls that we have the best chance to succeed in addressing our current and pressing global challenges.UN Women’s strategy for CSW69/Beijing+30 will prioritize multistakeholder partnerships to create a networked, people-centered multilateral system aligned with the Secretary-General’s vision of Our Common Agenda and the 2024 Summit of the Future, and towards the implementation of the 2030 Agenda.Under the supervision of the Senior Communications and Advocacy lead and the Special Assistant, the Communications Specialist will support in conceptualizing the advocacy plan for Beijing + 30 and manage the Executive Director´s Social Media.This is a temporary position for a duration of 364 days. Whereas an external candidate will be offered a temporary appointment, subject to release agreements, staff members in UN Women may be administered as a temporary assignment and staff members in the UN Common system may be administered under a loan arrangement.Key Functions and Accountabilities:Lead Advocacy Support in the Executive Director’s Office– Coordinate the publication of content on the external website for the Executive Director’s engagements.
– Coordinate with global communications to ensure alignment of ED communications and corporate communications.
– Coordinate communications around ED missions and participation in regional events
– Manage the Executive Director’s social media accounts, including X, explore other accounts, including tik tok, Instagram, etc.
– Work with policy divisions, regional offices, and Communications to identify opportunities for engagements by ELT.
– Develop a weekly social media plan.
– Drive ED’s direct X engagement with content from key donors and influential individuals through retweets, likes, and, where appropriate, comments.
Coordinate and contribute to the development and implementation of the Beijing + 30 advocacy strategy, including branding, outreach, messaging.The incumbent performs other duties within their functional profile as deemed necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organization.Competencies :Core Values:– Integrity;

– A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Experience:– At least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications or advocacy, and/or business development is required.
– Experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment is required.
– Experience working with civil society organizations, international institutions and donors is required.
– Experience in policy and strategic media engagement is an asset.
– Experience working in the UN system is an asset.
Languages:– Fluency in English is required.
