Job Summary:

As a Community Health Worker at Basra Hospital for Women and Children, you will have the opportunity to directly contribute to improving the health and well-being of the local community. Your role will focus on organizing and leading educational sessions on health and climate change issues, targeting both hospital patients and those in nearby areas. The topics covered will include critical areas of sexual, reproductive, and maternal health such as ante-natal care, post-natal care, family planning, and breastfeeding. You will be tasked with gathering regular feedback on the effectiveness of these sessions, and documenting health activities using the KOBO system and physical records. Your work will have a meaningful impact on enhancing health awareness and addressing the intersection of health and climate change for the beneficiaries in Basra.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizing and conducting Health and Climate change education related sessions for the targeted community inside Hospital and nearby areas. The health topics will include Sexual, Reproductive, and Maternal Health (Ante-Natal CARE, Post-Natal Care, Family Planning, and Breastfeeding). 
  • Provide regular feedback about the impact of the health activities on the targeted beneficiaries to the Community Health Workers Team Leader and to the Health Assistant.
  • Regularly share photos of the awareness activities with the beneficiaries and consent forms when requested.
  • Ensure regular daily data entry for Health and climate change activities using the KOBO system and hard copies.
  • Perform any additional tasks as assigned by Community Outreach Field Assistant.  and Project Assistant.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  • Graduated Successfully from a High School, College, or institution.
  • Written & Verbal proficiency in the Arabic language.
  • Preferably to have one year of experience working in similar positions in Basra and know how to work on the KOBO system.
