If you are a talented and experienced surveyor looking to make a significant impact on a vibrant city, we invite you to join our team.We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic individual to take an active role in supporting Scotland’s Capital City on its vision to create a smaller, modern, more efficient, and carbon neutral property estate. As a Condition Surveyor (Building) you’ll be a key member of our Strategic Asset Improvement Team. You’ll deliver a vital technical service which will help ensure that the Council’s estate is a safe place to use, work and learn in.Working as part of a team, you will be responsible for conducting building condition surveys across the Council’s operational estate (i.e. schools, libraries etc) to identify and assess the condition of building fabric. Key duties of the role include identifying the necessary improvements to properties to contribute to the minimisation of Health & Safety risks and improve property performance and lifespan. You’ll be responsible for creating property condition reports including detail on estimated remediation costs. You will also contribute to the Council’s wider strategic property planning needs including supporting the delivery of the Council’s Corporate Property Strategy. The Council is at the forefront of low carbon building design and retrofit and you will play a key role in continuing to drive the energy retrofit agenda supporting the wider decarbonisation of the Council’s estate.Based within the Strategic Asset Planning, the post holder will work closely with colleagues from disciplines across the built environment including facilities management and design teams, as well as liaising with wider Council services.As part of our goal to improve our organisational culture and create a great place to work together for the people of Edinburgh, we want to make sure that we’re bringing the best people into our roles, not just in their skills and experience but also in their approach to work.To help achieve this, we’re changing the way we interview and assess candidates by moving from a competency-based interview approach to a behavioural and technical (skills for the job) based approach.
