If so, we are looking for a Configuration Control Coordinator who is a crucial member of our Facilities Decommissioning & Environmental Remediation (FD&ER) team at Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL). In this role, you would ensure that all documents, methods, procedures, and practices adhere to company and regulatory standards, safeguarding health, safety, and the environment. • Developing and maintaining the Configuration Management program for FD&ER.
• Providing leadership and day-to-day oversight to ensure department goals are met.
• Performing field walk-downs of major building systems and marking up drawings to reflect current configurations.
• Reviewing and ensuring configuration control during projects, including submitting mark-ups to Engineering.
• Preparing and maintaining status reports related to configuration management.
• Managing Engineering Change Controls (ECCs) and Field Change Requests (FCRs) in collaboration with Engineering.
• Participating in project meetings and contributing to peer reviews of documents and drawings.
• Providing technical guidance to support FD&ER milestones and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.

What we are looking for:

• Education

• Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology, or equivalent formal education. Significant related experience in a field of specialization, including eight (8) years of demonstrated experience.
• Experience

• Experience in a nuclear operational or decommissioning environment.
• Understanding of the National Building Code, National Fire Code, Electrical Code, NFPA standards, and company program manuals and how they apply to decommissioning.
• Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) regulatory documents and requirements would be an asset.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• A reasonable level of technical understanding is required to appreciate the hazards and address technical issues that may arise concerning the facilities at Chalk River Laboratories.
• General understanding of the engineering and design process at Chalk River Laboratories would be an asset.
• Expert proficiency in AutoCAD, other Autodesk programs and be meticulous in documenting details.
• Have excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to disseminate information to other team members and clients and strong team problem-solving skills are essential.
• Be a self-starter and able to work independently, with minor oversight and supervision.
• Demonstrate organization and planning skills; ability to establish priorities; define action plans; set and meet deadlines; monitor performance.
• Proven initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with management, peers, internal and external clients.
• Be able to communicate effectively with various groups at all levels on a daily basis both on project and non-project related activities.
• Ability to perform a variety of duties, changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to perform field walk-downs and technical knowledge and understanding to mark-up draws.
• Knowledge of building and site distribution systems including, electrical, water/air/steam delivery, drainage systems, refrigeration, fire protection, HVAC, structural systems, and energy management would be an asset.
• Strong understanding of configuration management.
• Have a good base knowledge of the Canada Labour Code, WHMIS, CNSC regulations, and other codes pertaining to life safety.
• A good working knowledge and ability to apply the applicable codes associated with decommissioning a nuclear site and buildings.
• Knowledge and application of radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination control would be an asset. A minimum of Group 3 certification will be required.
• Knowledge of CNL’s practices, procedures, and compliance programs would be an asset.
• General knowledge of the environmental laws pertaining to PCB’s, HCFC’s, Asbestos and their impact on the operation and maintenance of the facilities.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required

• Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• Be available to work off-hours or additional time beyond regular working hours during emergent situations that may be required to support maintenance, decommissioning activities, breakdowns, or regulatory deadlines/commitments.
• Must respond in a manner that is always professional, effective, and timely to all levels of management and technical staff as well as external agencies.
• The physical ability to work in the decommissioning and dismantlement field or job site.
• Work characteristics include an environment of multiple internal and external customers, multiple tasks and priorities, and changing timelines to deal with changing workloads and emerging customer issues while maintaining effective progress on commitments and projects.
• Flexibility of work schedule of working in nuclear facilities, in office environments and potentially work at home may be required.
• Required to be respirator fit tested and able to wear in the field as required.
