Position SummaryManages the outreach programs and activities for the Academy of International Business ( ) at Michigan State University and performs other duties as assigned. Reports to the Managing Director. Works closely with the rest of the AIB staff, including the Communications Manager, Journals Managing Editor, Components Coordinator and Treasurer, and the Membership Coordinator. Programs and events include but are not limited to in-person and virtual academic conferences, workshops, and development programs for research, teaching, and curriculum development in international business serving professors and doctoral students worldwide. Works with the AIB Components Coordinator and Treasurer to manage the programs of the AIB’s constituents and components, including but not limited to its Shared Interest Groups (SIGs), its globally located chapters, various committees, and task forces. Works with the AIB Treasurer as the second account signatory and the Managing Director. Works closely with the Membership Coordinator. Assists the AIB staff, including the AIB Executive Board, committee members, shared interest group and chapter chairs, and the Managing Director in developing goals and programs. Works closely with the Communications Manager on newsletters, social media posts, and other communications as applicable. Works with the Managing Director to identify universities and corporate and NGO partners for programs and sponsorships. Assists the Managing Director in coordinating the applications, managing the recruitment process for doctoral training programs, and overseeing curriculum development. Works with the Managing Director to negotiate and execute complex agreements with global vendors and partners, including institutions, universities, venues, catering, A/V, exhibitors, and tech solutions for program/event development and delivery. Assists the Managing Director to perform complex budgeting, data analysis, and reporting for development & execution of programs and events, identify financial needs, and develop strategic solutions. Reviews the Treasurer’s account reports monthly, quarterly, and annually with the Managing Director. Designs administers and analyzes results of evaluation instruments such as membership reports, conference registrations, and scholarships. Assists the Managing Director in generating proposals for external funding. Assists the Components Coordinator serving as a liaison to AIB’s affiliates around the globe, including governmental and non-governmental organizations, businesses, and institutions of higher education. Travels both domestically and globally at least once a year for up to 10 days at a time for onsite conference/event support. Possible additional travel for chapter events. Nights and weekends may be required during conference/event peak times.Minimum RequirementsKnowledge equivalent to that which would normally be acquired by completing a Master’s degree in an appropriate field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in organizational administration or a field closely related to the purpose of the consortium; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Desired QualificationsExperience with running a professional association and communicating with a globally located academic audience, managing scholarship award applications, data management, and analysis, and using computer technology to solve problems, as well as the ability and interest to connect with a global academic audience.Related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in organizational administration or a field closely related to the consortium’s purpose; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Candidates must have experience overseeing all elements of conferences, workshops, board meetings, and similar events, including but not limited to logistics such as catering, analyzing and reporting on membership and conference statistics, financial analysis, and budgeting.
