UNICEF has over 12,000 staff in more than 145 countries.BACKGROUNDPurpose of Activity/ Assignment:Provide technical writing support for ECD Programme Guidance.Scope of Work:The objective of this consultancy is to support the ECD Team in revising its Programme Guidance in alignment with the ECD 2030 Vision Document. More specifically, this will include:1. Attending coordination and consultation meetings/calls with the ECD teams as required for required updates, instructions, and coordination.2. Revising, editing, and proofreading the document by incorporating inputs and feedback from the Nutrition and ECD Management and external editors, proofreaders, designers, etc.3. Finalizing Guidance with final proofreading for accuracy and quality checks, including designs and layouts.4. Briefing regional and country offices on the revised Guidance.DELIVERABLES1. Final draft of ECD Programme Guidance2. Webinar/presentation on revised Guidance to regional and country officesThe consultant will be supervised by the ECD Specialist: Multi-sectoral Results Measurement and Management for guidance and direction while engaging with the entire ECD team including the Senior Advisor, Associate Director, Sections of the Programme Group (Nutrition, Health, Education, Child Protection, WASH, Social Policy), Regional Offices, Global Technical teams, etc.Terms of Reference / Key Deliverables: * Incorporate the Nutrition and Child Development Management and external proofreaders/copy editors’ inputs/feedback into the draft, in close consultation with the ECD team.

  • Revised draft of ECD Programme Guidance

September 30, 2024 * Finalize Guidance by assuring alignment with ECD 2030 Vision and final proofreading for accuracy and quality checks, including designs and layouts, in consultation with the ECD team.

November 15, 2024QualificationsEducation:

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in Master’s degree in English, Public Administration, Education, Health, Economics, Psychology, Sociology, or other social science field.

Work experience:Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required *:

  • Advanced knowledge of the field of ECD, early learning/education, or international education;
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the international development sector, with extensive experience in writing;
  • Excellent analytical and report writing skills;
  • Strong knowledge of UNICEF mission/goals, programmes, and policies;
  • Ability to work on a tight deadline; and
  • Previous Guidance writing experience, particularly with the United Nations, is strongly preferred.

Requirements:Completed profile in UNICEF’s e-Recruitment system and– Upload copy of academic credentials– Financial proposal that will include/ reflect :

  • the costs per each deliverable and the total lump-sum for the whole assignment (in US$) to undertake the terms of reference.
  • travel costs and daily subsistence allowance, if internationally recruited or travel is required as per TOR.
  • Any other estimated costs: visa, health insurance, and living costs as applicable.
