We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Colorectal and Pelvic Floor consultant.This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and well-established team consisting of eight consultants at Royal London Hospital, Bart’s Health NHS Trust.The successful applicant will be responsible for providing general in-patient and outpatient adult care, including out-of- hours on-call commitment.The post includes 10 PA of activity/40 hours per weekPlease note we that the vacancy may be closed prior to the advertised closing date once a sufficient number of applications have been received. Therefore, please do not delay in completing and submitting your application.Unfortunately, due to the large number of applications that the Trust receives for some posts, it is not possible to reply to every unsuccessful application.If you have not received a response within 3 weeks of the closing date of an advert, please assume that your application has been unsuccessful.Main duties of the jobo The post holder will have full and continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.o Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts’ business plans.o Liaise and work in collaboration with the Lead Clinician, Senior Management and administration teams for Surgery and with the multi-disciplinary teams (MDT) that support the service.o With the agreement of the Clinical Lead and Clinical Service Group Director, development of his/her own interests and sub-specialties within the specialty, in line with business planning principles and commissioners’ approval, including active participation in research programmes.o Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.o When on leave or working away from the Royal London main hospital site patient cover will be facilitated by the colorectal service and General Surgery department.o Periods of leave should be spread across the spectrum of job planned activity.About usBarts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country, and one of Britain’s leading healthcare providers.The Barts Health group of NHS hospitals is entering an exciting new era on our improvement journey to becoming an outstanding organisation with a world-class clinical reputation.   • FRCS, or qualification of an equivalent level
  • The candidate should be on the GMC Specialist Register, or within 6 months of obtaining this via CCT, CESR or European Community Rights respectively

  • Higher Degree, MS/MD/PhD

KnowledgeEssential

  • Widespread broad based knowledge of all aspects of General and Colorectal Surgery
  • Evidence of subspecialty knowledge of pelvic floor surgery

Training ExpectedEssential

  • Higher Specialist Training in Colorectal Surgery
  • Experience in training undergraduates and postgraduates
  • Evidence of sub-specialist training in pelvic floor surgery

Desirable

  • Fellowship in Pelvic Floor surgery

Management/Audit ExperienceEssential

  • Able to provide evidence of clinical audit and demonstrate understanding of impact and challenges this brings
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of current and future NHS challenges and strategy
