The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join the Hastings Early Intervention for Psychosis team. This vacancy has arisen due to retirement and the Trust regards this as an opportune moment to develop the functioning of the team.This post is one example of the commitment of the Trust to develop better provision and capacity for the Hastings Early Intervention for Psychosis service and the families and carers using the service in challenging times. Sussex Early Intervention in Psychosis Service.To provide evidence-based interventions to service users with first episode psychosis and comorbid conditions with a focus on regular reviews/CPA.To support early intervention practitioners in the production of comprehensive care planning including relapse prevention and crisis management.To lead the development of local evidence-based interventions for this caseload, in consultation with the multi-disciplinary team.To optimise the physical health of clients with first episode psychosis.To support other professionals and GPs with psychopharmacological advice consistent with guidelines developed within the wider service.To liaise with Primary Care.To encourage and facilitate family/carer involvement in the delivery of packages of care.To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team seeking innovative ways of engaging with service usersTo liaise with statutory and non-statutory (Probation, Police, Court, Social Services, voluntary organisations/agencies, schools/colleges) to assist in the management of early intervention clients.To offer training to professional and non-statutory audiences as appropriate.To participate in the planning and development of Early Intervention Services across Sussex.To contribute constructively to improving the standards of mental health care within Sussex.To undertake responsibilities of Approved Clinician status under the Mental Health Act.To liaise closely with other functional teams within the locality to ensure provision of consistent and appropriate services.To manage the input of other medical staff and establish and monitor standards including, as a minimum the recording of clinical interventions, case summary and discharge summaries, communications with GPs and attendance at agreed meetings.To ensure that medical staff in the team have appropriate clinical supervision and training on a regular basis.To encourage and participate in team developments and training and to provide appropriate clinical leadership.To work closely with the team and other managers in the Trust.To participate in the Trust Clinical Governance Programme and to contribute to Clinical Audit within the Trust.To be a core member of the Early Intervention in Psychosis Local Leadership Team where clinical governance, service development and finance are managed.The post holder is expected to be CPD registered and to maintain up to date knowledge and expertise.To adhere to Trust policies, such as clinical and personnel policies of the Trust e.g.
