The ICT and Digital Innovation Section at UNICEF’s East Asia and Pacific Regional Office (EAPRO) is looking for an Interaction (UX) Designer to lead and support the design and delivery of user-centred digital solutions. This role will focus on designing tools and systems to streamline and improve situational reporting (SitRep) and data-driven emergency responses. Collaborating with a small data team and a wider set of stakeholders, the designer will contribute to developing automated visualisations and cost estimation tools for disaster response, as well as supporting high-effort initiatives such as damage assessments for health and education infrastructure to lead and support the design and delivery of user-centred digital solutions.

Core Skills (Practitioner Level): 

  • Design Communication:  
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas and problems clearly to non-design stakeholders. 
  • Proven ability to build consensus and challenge assumptions constructively. 
  • Designing for Everyone:  
  • Experience designing ethical, inclusive, and accessible digital services. 
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and regulations (e.g., WCAG). 
  • Designing Strategically:  
  • Experience aligning user-centred design with organisational goals and priorities. 
  • Ability to leverage risks, constraints, and opportunities to inform design. 
  • Designing Together:  
  • Skilled in planning and facilitating collaborative design workshops. 
  • Experience involving diverse stakeholders in the design process. 
  • Evidence-Based Design:  
  • Proficient in analysing and synthesising complex user research and data. 
  • Experience creating and testing hypotheses to refine designs. 
  • Iterative Design:  
  • Expertise in prototyping complex ideas and iterating designs based on user feedback. 
  • Experience applying agile methodologies to design processes.
