We are seeking to recruit a full time Consultant in Respiratory Medicine with an interest in a specialist interest in Lung Cancer to join our forward-looking respiratory team. Acute respiratory services are centralised in Morriston Hospital, Swansea with additional outpatient services in the nearby Singleton and Port Talbot Hospital sites, all well supported by on site Respiratory Physiology and Radiology. We provide excellent quality patient care across a comprehensive range of Respiratory services.The successful candidates will join eight existing Respiratory Consultants and will contribute to the care of inpatients on the Respiratory ward (incorporating RSU) and the respiratory retrieval rota in Morriston Hospital. Currently Respiratory Medicine contributes to the GIM on call.Our service incorporates a multidisciplinary team including Respiratory Nurse Specialists, Respiratory Physiotherapists and Pulmonary Physiologists. We work closely with our experienced Thoracic Radiologists and on site Thoracic Surgeons. Our junior doctor team includes four Specialist Trainees, two IMT3s, IMTs, clinical fellows, foundation trainees and two full time Physicians Associates.Main duties of the jobAs a Respiratory Team, we strive to provide excellent quality patient-centred care in a friendly, inclusive and supportive environment. We welcome applications from individuals who will bring new ideas and help develop the department further. There is opportunity to be involved in research and postgraduate and undergraduate training. There are strong links with Swansea Medical School. There is a generous financial Welcome Payment available in addition to relocation expenses.The successful candidate will join an existing team of respiratory consultants and lung cancer specialist nurses involved in the delivery of respiratory cancer care. There is an established and full MDT once weekly with Pathologists, Thoracic Radiologists, Oncologists and on-site Thoracic Surgeon. In addition daily triage sessions occur virtually with Thoracic Radiologists to aid decision making and improve the patient pathway. There are weekly EBUS and bronchoscopy sessions. Navigational bronchoscopy is planned. The opportunity exists to further develop interventional bronchoscopy. Qualifications
Essential

  • Registered with GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC (including via CESR/European Community Rights) as a specialist in Respiratory Medicine or eligible for CCTCESR/CP within 6 months of date of interview and have passed exit exam or a statement of eligibility for registration issued by PMETB or a primary medical qualification and recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State which will allow direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register

Experience
Essential
