Every day, WFP works worldwide to ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and that the poorest and most vulnerable, particularly women and children, can access the nutritious food they need.ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXTThe Multilateral & Programme Country Partnerships Division’s (MPC) Office in Washington DC guides WFP Country Offices on how to support national governments and work with the Washington-based International Financial Institution (IFIs) towards achieving SDG 2, while shaping the global partnership with these institutions.
The Partnerships Consultant would report to the Deputy Director of MPC and support engagement with the World Bank, IMF and IADB and other relevant counterparts as appropriate, including national government counterparts.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive)

  • Collect and perform basic analysis of data to contribute to quality business information management.
  • Provide advice and support to the Deputy Director on a range of issues related to the MPC Office in Washington DC.
  • Coordinate special projects, briefs, etc. produced by the MPC Washington Team, ensuring completeness.
  • Conduct research, review and analysis for the Deputy Director on topics as assigned and drafts notes-to-the-file to facilitate decision-making and follow-up.
  • Support the planning of staff meetings and tracking of tasks and contributes to improved business procedures and processes.
  • Performing any other functions or roles as needed.

STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Advanced or first university degree in development, business administration, public administration, environment, or related fields.Language: Fluency (level C) in English is required. Fluency in a second official UN language is desirable: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a working language).Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant working experience in development, policy, or humanitarian response would be preferable. Working directly in or with WFP operations in the field is an asset. He/she will have basic knowledge of IFIs and understand their structures and mechanisms.KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Manages projects effectively and consistently ensures timeliness and quality of project work carried out by the office.
  • Strong communications skills, ability to interact with IFI officials and other stakeholders.
  • In-depth practical knowledge of inter-disciplinary humanitarian and development issues.
  • Communicates effectively with staff at all levels of the organization and is comfortable in handling external engagements at all levels.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity, tact and diplomacy, as well as external relations in his/her role as Special Assistant to the Director.
  • Proven networking, team building, organizational and communication skills, team-work spirit and ability to work in multicultural settings, superior cognitive capacity.
