Overview:The Controller will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing all aspects of accounting operations. Reporting directly to the President, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes, including billing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and cost accounting. Your expertise will be crucial in providing strategic financial insights and driving process improvements across the organization.Responsibilities:1. Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Analyze and monitor bank activities and cash flow to optimize financial performance (10%)
  • Ensure accurate and timely production of monthly financial statements, including analytical review of operating results (15%)
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple cost centers and entities (15%)
  • Assist in annual and long-range financial planning processes (5%)

2. Process Improvement

  • Lead process improvement initiatives and automation efforts within the accounting and finance departments (8%)

3. Owner Operator and Carrier Pay Management

  • Review and manage Owner Operator settlement pay process, integrating and reconciling settlement activity (5%)
  • Oversee carrier pay and collaborate with operations department for seamless workflow (5%)

4. Financial Operations Oversight

  • Supervise the recording, tracking, and reporting of financial information (20%)
  • Manage year-end closing processes and provide support for external audits (5%)
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and timely filing of financial reports (15%)

5. Collaboration and Coordination

  • Work closely with HR and payroll departments to ensure accurate reporting of payroll items (2%)

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
  • 5-7 years of experience in accounting, with management and team-building skills
  • Strong knowledge of accounting processes and procedures, including general ledger accounting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Preferred audit experience and familiarity with consolidated financial statements; CPA preferred but not required
  • Meticulous organization and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial data management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to multitask and work well under pressure
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Great Plains, Magnus, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Transportation industry background, preferably in trucking or logistics
