Based in the Orleans, Ontario area, this opening for a Controller is a permanent position.How you will make an impact– Produce cash-flow reports, calculating cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals, and manage daily cash– Evaluate, implement and streamline policies, procedures, controls and most methodologies– Collaborate with executive team and partners to support efficient and effective firm-wide operation– Meet client expectations by reviewing deliverables of self and team to make sure they meet client satisfaction– Manage the timing for monthly billing and other cash management techniques to make sure cash collection is on time– Manage monthly and annual close of income statement and balance sheet, the reconciliations of accounts, and G/L analysis– Support Finance Department initiatives, such as software and systems implementation and other departmental or firm-wide improvements, with research, planning, and implementation, as required– Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them on a monthly basis– Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll– Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities– Give executive committee and partners monthly financial reports– 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller or Accounting Manager preferred– Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent– Intercompany accounts experience highly desired– Demonstrated knowledge of Full Charge Bookkeeping– Command of Legal Services– Strong familiarity with ProLaw time and billing– Adeptness in policies & procedures– Comprehensive knowledge of Quickbooks Online– Operational Budgets experience– Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills– CPA preferred however commensurate experience or pursuing their CPA is acceptable.– Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities– Prior work in technology, analytics and management experience desired– Detailed and have the ability work independently– BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, Economics or other business related field– Ability to meet deadlines– Able to build and deliver effective presentations to audiences with wide-ranging backgrounds– Accounting experience in a law firm or professional services is highly desired.– Strong communication and interpersonal skills-Ability to lead financial audits and those from the Law Society.-Bilingualism (French and English) is desirable.This is a growing firm that offers good opportunity to grow and grow your department.
