They have $7 billion in active projects and are in the process of expanding their team. They have been operational for more than 50 years.Position Overview: The Controller of Real Estate Development will be accountable for overseeing the critical financial aspects of our client and related real estate entities, including monitoring all agreements and leases, managing cash planning, and maintaining relationships with bankers and lenders. The role includes the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports.Key Responsibilities:
- Consolidate multiple reporting entities and prepare and assess monthly financial statements.
- Formulate a dependable monthly cash flow projection employed to substantiate operational requirements and critical real estate funding business decisions.
- Manage real estate property accounting, encompassing the acquisition of properties, the capitalization of structures, the sale/disposition of properties, and the construction in progress. Oversee bank loans related to property accounting.
- Conduct analysis of prospective real estate property sales/dispositions as requested.
- Collaborate with financiers, bankers, and appraisers to provide them with the necessary due diligence documents for the financing of real estate construction loans.
- Provide financial support for permanent real estate loans, including preparing refinanced loan packages.
- Manage requirements and paydowns of the line of credit.
- Support the year-end evaluation of financial statements and tax planning requirements, including the preparation of footnote disclosures, account reconciliations, and drafting financial statements.
- Support Executive Leadership business requirements by collaborating on the presentation of monthly financial statements and special project initiatives that necessitate rigorous financial analysis.
- Manage the general accounting activities of Development, which encompass real estate accounts receivable and accounts payable.
Requirements:
- Ten or more years of experience in progressively responsible financial leadership positions, preferably in the real estate development and/or property management industry.
- Strong preference for individuals with prior experience in public accounting.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced, dynamic team environment and capable of independently completing multiple assignments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with an MBA and/or CPA preferred.
- Proficient in sophisticated Microsoft Excel skills and experience with Jonas accounting software.
