Job Description Summary We are seeking a talented and experienced Controls and Automation Engineer to join the GE Power Conversion Storage business, specifically within our Naval segment. This role presents an exciting opportunity to address complex challenges by spearheading the development and implementation of engineering components for our projects. These projects involve the design, risk mitigation, and delivery of innovative power, propulsion, and energy system solutions, integrated with digital and automation technologies, for both surface and submarine systems, catering to our UK and international customers.Job DescriptionAs a Controls and Automation Engineer, you will be tasked with delivering control system projects primarily for Naval applications. This technical role requires collaboration within a multi-disciplinary team of engineers to design, implement, and test comprehensive Controls and Automation system solutions that adhere to customer specifications and marine classification society standards.Essential ResponsibilitiesOversee all phases of the project delivery lifecycle, including requirement capture, detailed design, and testing of the control system, ensuring it is maintainable, extensible, reliable, efficient, and aligned with company standards.Design the functional aspects of HMI, PLC Architecture, Networks, and Communication Interfaces, integrating these using standard hardware and software components.Conduct verification and validation of the control system, including hardware testing with the power system under test, and perform factory acceptance testing.Collaborate with various functional teams, disciplines within the company, and external stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, and classification societies to facilitate design and produce documentation throughout the project cycle.Plan and advance design and testing activities to meet required contractual delivery timelines.Manage changes throughout the project using established change management processes.Engage in design reviews.Qualifications/RequirementsDegree in industrial control systems, electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, or a related field.Existing or the ability to obtain the higher levels of UK Security Clearance including “SC Clearance” and “UK Eyes Only Clearance “are required for this role.Experience in the design and integration of control and automation project solutions.Proficiency in standard industrial communication protocols such as Modbus (RTU/TCP IP), OPC-UA, Profibus, and Profinet.Experience in PLC programming using IEC61131-3 languages and SCADA configuration.Familiarity with industrial networks and their implementation.Basic knowledge of OT cybersecurity and functional safety per IEC 61508 is advantageous but not essential.Additional InformationRelocation Assistance Provided: No
