Job Description

Under general supervision, the Coordinator is responsible for the planning, development,
implementation and evaluation of programs that promote a culture of social change at ASU
through the work of Changemaker Central. The Coordinator contributes to the overall efforts of
the Cultural Connection and Social Change team and serves on various department and
university committees representing the Student Connection and Community team. The
Coordinator ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with
departmental and institutional priorities. The Coordinator develops programs for various student
constituents and supports Changemaker Central with all facets of programming activities that
promote student driven social change.

Essential Duties

Responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and assessment of events and
activities as assigned to foster a culture of social change at the institution.
Supports the Changemaker Central Student Leadership team in the development and
implementation of signature university-wide programs and initiatives including, but not limited to,
SunDevilServe, Community Action Grants, and Change the World.
Develops undergraduate student leaders involved with Cultural Connection and Social Change.
Supports the development, expansion, and maintenance of a portfolio of navigation tools that
afford students at all ASU campus locations with access to information and resources to
advance their social change ideas and make a positive impact in the local and global community
(including the “I am a Changemaker” Campaign, Changemaker
Maps, and the Changemaker Workshop Series). Supports the consistent dissemination of
information about social change opportunities available to students through the curation of
content for Changemaker newsletters, social media, and other communication networks and
strategies.
Assists in the process of identifying and implementing best practices of peer institutions and
organizations in the field.
Supports efforts to increase student awareness of and participation in Changemaker Central
programs. Assists in highlighting of individual stories of students and unique community
partnerships that develop through Changemaker Central via national media, ASU News articles,
blog features, State Press, etc.
Assists with evaluation and assessment efforts within the unit; including basic tracking of
activities, program evaluation, and measurement of learning outcomes.
Acts as a liaison with student organizations and groups across all campus locations to promote
social change and as a consultant to individual ASU colleges on programmatic initiatives
.
Collaborates with key university-wide partners to develop mutual relationships that directly impact
the programs and opportunities Changemaker Central offers.
Communicates regularly with community partners related to social change initiatives to
develop/maintain working relationships and programming opportunities.
Supports Cultural Connection and Social Change programs and initiatives across all campus
locations.
Demonstrates a commitment to fostering welcoming, inclusive, and diverse environments.
Ensures that program goals and objectives are accomplished in accordance with departmental and
institutional priorities.
Supports Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) divisional initiatives and events
inclusive of Welcome Week, Pitchfork Awards, Passport to ASU, and more.
Represents the SCC by serving in various department and university committees; attends
seminars, workshops, and conferences.
Work location is primarily at the Tempe Campus; however, incumbent may be required to travel
to other ASU campuses and occasionally off-campus events.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND three (3) years of related experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of in developing and implementing student programming/activities in a
  • higher education setting, including workshops, presentations and events.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of training college/university students for leadership roles and the ability
  • to build and maintain good working relationships with student and professional staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of coordinating and prioritizing work and activities of self and others.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of university policy interpretation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting and accounting principles.
  • Experience in working with a diverse population.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.

Educational Outreach and Student Services (EOSS) is committed to enrolling all qualified students at
Arizona State University and assisting them in their academic success. EOSS provides a broad range of
services and support to students and prospective students ranging from outreach efforts with K-12
schools, orientation programs for new freshman, bridge programs to assist the transition to a university
