Job introductionAbout the roleEast Sussex Coroners Service is looking to recruit a full time Coroners Officer to be part of our small team investigating deaths which are reportable to the Coroner under the Coroners and Justice Act 2009.This challenging role is highly rewarding and requires officers to support the Coroner by working with various agencies including emergency services, the NHS, GP’s, prison service and most importantly the bereaved.The role of a coroner’s officer in East Sussex is an opportunity to support a family throughout the coronial process. You will be required to attend scenes of death across East Sussex, investigate and prepare evidence for the coroner before arranging and attending inquests. This is a demanding role which requires dedication and flexibility. Officers are required to work out of hours covering their allocated dates from an on-call rota.Coroner’s Officers need to be organised, problem solvers who are able to work under pressure and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
