Responsibilities
Working closely with the owner and the management team, the key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Hands on management of the full cycle day-to-day accounting functions for multiple entities including managing the accounts payable staff, preparing all general journal adjustments, preparing all accounts receivable, completion of bank reconciliations, reconciliation of inter-company transactions.
  • Preparation of loan draw requests.
  • Treasury work including management of project and corporate cash, banking and assisting with sourcing new capital.
  • Preparation of payroll.
  • Preparation and maintenance of government and regulatory filings (for example: GST returns and annual reports).
  • Preparation of year-end working paper files and coordination of external auditors.
  • Tax planning and preparation.

Qualifications
Requirements

  • Completion of the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Strong background in financial management with at least 5 years of work experience in a similar position within a real estate development, construction or project-related organization.
  • Strong administrative, communication and people skills and an understanding of Information Technology and Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of stakeholders including bank executives, contractors and business partners.
  • Strong computer skills including Excel, other Microsoft Office products and computerized accounting programs (QuickBooks).
