This position is responsible for providing in-depth and perceptive research and analysis.As the Credit Research Analyst, Fixed Income, you will be required to make recommendations to fixed income portfolio managers based on an analysis of credit fundamentals. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of credit files sufficient to satisfy compliance, regulatory, and internal fund manager requirements. This will require gathering and analysis of relevant financial, quantitative and qualitative industry, economic, regulatory and company-specific data.In this role, you will be:
- Performing fundamental credit analysis and financial modeling of companies and securitized products
- Analyzing corporate structures and covenants, making recommendations regarding the relative attractiveness of debt, hybrid debt, and preferred shares
- Preparing credit summaries and credit recommendations under the direction of the Head of Credit Research
- Maintaining a database to facilitate the ongoing monitoring of credit risk positions, and watch lists
- Monitoring universe of potential investment opportunities and current holdings in the various Fixed Income portfolios, by gathering, consolidating and interpreting industry, company, and economic information from sources such as:
- Corporate annual reports and other regulatory filings
- Industry publications and online periodicals
- Institutional research and
- Management interviews
- Participation in meetings with corporate management teams, investment bankers and analysts, with senior members of the Fixed Income team, documenting and reporting on meetings and other relevant news to the Fixed Income team
- The fundamental research process will include travel to industry conferences and corporate management meetings
- Identifying and communicating, in a timely manner, improving or deteriorating corporate credits
Do you have the skills and requirements that will enable you to succeed in this role? – We’d love to work with you if have:
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or related field
- Completion or pursuing the CFA designation
- Seasoned and experienced credit professional with experience in credit/investment analysis, or related discipline
- Experience with detailed modeling of company financial information
- Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities
- Functional capability with financial analysis software
- Self-motivated and results driven
- Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team of investment professionals
