Who you are:Reporting to the Curriculum and Training Manager on the High School Outbound (HSOB) Academics team, this role focuses on supporting student learning and program development for CIEE’s Global Navigator High School Summer Abroad (HSSA) programs through the development of curricular resources, the facilitation of trainings, improving operational efficiencies, and ensuring that program quality and outcomes are consistent across programs.This individual works with CIEE staff and instructors around the world to support them as they put academic plans into action for our 3- to 4-week HSSA programs for U.S. high school students exploring new languages, cultures, and subjects around the world.The individual in this role will be a pillar for our HSSA topic programs, which include Arts & Culture, Leadership & Service, STEM, Social Change, and Business. The small and nimble Academics team collaborates extensively and supports one another in ensuring programs are intentionally designed, ready to be delivered, and achieve stated outcomes. The individual in this role should be a creative self-starter who is well-versed in the K-12 educational context (e.g., educational standards and frameworks, best practices in teaching and learning, experiential learning, current trends, etc.) and comfortable guiding the development of high school program topics ranging from civics to environmental science, to entrepreneurship, to social justice, to visual and performing arts. The person in this role should be passionate about maximizing student learning, ensuring program quality, have an exceptional eye for detail, and excel at managing multiple projects and interacting with different cultures. You may be a former teacher; you may be a curriculum editor/author with experience in curriculum implementation and training. You are definitely excited about expanding students’ horizons by making study abroad programs that meet educational objectives and are aligned with U.S. learning standards.Limited travel may be required for this role (approximately 1–3 trips per year), and you may be asked to take our emergency cell phone to provide 24/7 support to participants and parents for up to one week per year.What you’ll do:
- Assist with the annual development and revision of syllabi and program calendars for HSSA topic programs, including Arts & Culture, Leadership & Service, STEM, Social Change, and Business.
- Develop, review, and revise academic/curricular materials (e.g., curricula, supplemental components, assessment rubrics, alignment with educational standards, student self-assessments, student pre-departure content, etc.).
- Provide ongoing support to international staff and instructors concerning academic matters related to HSSA topic programs, including via email, video calls, and periodic training and one-on-one coaching.
- Develop and facilitate the annual training program for HSSA instructors serving in our Arts & Culture, Leadership & Service, STEM, Social Change, and Business programs. Training consists of online asynchronous Canvas courses paired with synchronous live, virtual workshops.
- Develop and facilitate internal trainings for HSSA staff members on program content.
- Develop and manage online courses in Canvas, CIEE’s LMS, for students, instructors, and staff.
- Assist in the development of the student “Know Before You Go” pre-departure course in Canvas.
- Assist in the development and facilitation of the annual Program Leader training. Training consists of online asynchronous Canvas courses paired with synchronous live, virtual workshops.
- Provide ongoing administrative support related to academics, including but not limited to annual outcomes reporting, data and survey analysis, etc.
- Evaluate and synthesize findings from pre- and post-program student self-assessment results.
- Field questions from participants and their families concerning academic matters.
What you’ll bring:The ideal candidate will possess:
- Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent).
- A minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- High school teaching experience strongly preferred, preferably in a discipline other than world languages (e.g., Social Studies, STEM, Arts, CTE, Business, etc.).
- Exceptional written communication and presentation skills are required, including the ability to adapt messaging and tone for different audiences and present clearly, confidently, and convincingly in front of colleagues and teacher audiences.
- Exceptional eye for detail and strong editorial skills required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously to achieve goals and meet deadlines required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.) required.
- Experience working in an LMS (e.g., Canvas) is required.
- A willingness and ability to learn new systems fast.
- Intercultural skills required.
- One-on-one teacher coaching and classroom observation skills are strongly preferred.
- Experience facilitating experiential learning is strongly preferred.
- Data analysis skills for research are strongly preferred.
