Ensuring all information on patients diagnosed with cancer (National Cancer Datasetwith additional local items), is collected and entered onto the appropriate databasesto agreed standards and timeframes, to satisfy the needs of Cancer Waiting Times,National Cancer Dataset, Regional Registries, Royal Colleges, National Clinical AuditSupport Programme (NCASP), and locally perceived requirementsThat data is reviewed regularly with regard to updating of patient journey andvalidation of data quality.   • Educated to ‘GCSE’ level standard (3 grade C or above), or with equivalent relevant experience and skills
  • IT qualification or proven relevant experience

Knowledge and experienceEssential

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and general IT skills
  • High standard of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Sound understanding and observance of the principles of good data management, including legal responsibilities for data protection
  • Planning and organisational skills, including excellent time management
  • Evidence of good communications skills with colleagues at all levels

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of Hospital systems e.g. IHCS, Infoflex, CRIS, Cyberlab
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures
  • Good understanding of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of Data Protection Act

Specific SkillsEssential

  • Experience in data management
  • Proven ability to prioritise work effectively and to manage deadlines
  • Experience of working with multiple departments and professionals at all levels
  • Ability to maintain concentration

Desirable

  • Knowledge of Caldicott Guidelines and Patient Confidentiality
  • Understanding and knowledge of the National Cancer Waiting Time Targets

  • Flexible approach to working hours to accommodate needs of clinical teams for MDT meetings etc

  • Ability to touch type and write legibly
