We have a fantastic opportunity for a Data Architect to join the Aviva Ireland architecture team! The successful candidate will act as an advocate for data, evangelising its possibilities to senior business and IT stakeholders, and formulating a strategy that unlocks its potential as a valuable enterprise asset.This role is based in our Cherrywood Dublin 18 office and benefits from Aviva’s SMART working (Hybrid).Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Designing and managing Aviva’s data architecture, ensuring the integrity, security, and accessibility of our data assets.
  • Collaborating with Software Engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists, MI specialists and other colleagues & peers for whom data is crucial.
  • Building pragmatic cases for making optimal use of data, within the constraints of specific deliverables and objectives.
  • Implementing data governance policies to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance with regulations.
  • Generating awareness of, and support for, exploring the innovative data-driven possibilities of ‘Fintech’, such as Machine Learning.

Skills & Experience:

  • Substantial experience working in a data-related discipline.
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to influence peers & stakeholders.
  • Deep expertise in designing data solutions, inclusive of modelling and ETL/ELT patterns.
  • Experience in marshalling data governance principles and policies.
  • Hands-on expertise with multiple storage paradigms (SQL, NoSQL, structured vs unstructured etc) an advantage.
  • Knowledge of trends and emerging possibilities (e.g. AI, ML, LLMs etc) an advantage.
  • Experience with Snowflake and/or Collibra an advantage.
  • Understanding of MDM an advantage.
  • Understanding of the data mesh and/or lake paradigms an advantage.
