Job SummaryJob DescriptionWhat is the opportunity?As the Data Product Owner at RBC Insurance, you will contribute to the development, design and refinement of a comprehensive data & AI product strategy which enable differentiated employee and client experiences across all parts of the RBC Insurance value chain, ensuring alignment with our business goals and user needs. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders, business leaders, data and ML engineers, data scientists and analysts, to define, prioritize, and deliver data solutions that enable data-driven decision-making.Your goal will be to develop and deliver exceptional data and AI products that simplify the way RBCI conducts business and improve operational efficiency across Claims, Underwriting, Sales & Distribution, Product, etc. You will also leverage both technical acumen in Data, ML/AI and Product Management expertise to ensure material execution of our roadmap through strong collaboration with the business and technical leads.What will you do?

  • Act as the primary bridge between business teams, data teams and engineering to generate outcome, not output.
  • Work with stakeholders in the Digital and Data, Business, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Finance, etc., to define business problems a Data product will solve and the benefits of solving said problem
  • Define requirements and constraints (e.g. Technology, Risk, Compliance, etc.) that may impact the form and function of the product
  • Translate our global product strategy into a client/employee focused roadmap to prioritize work and communicate with stakeholders
  • Create, maintain, prioritize and oversee product backlog and associated release roadmaps while articulating how features are intended to be implemented, alignment to OKRs and associated benefits/business growth.
  • Ensure data governance, quality and compliance best-practices are followed.
  • Collaborate with product delivery team (data engineers, architects, data scientists and analysts), and other team members/stakeholders to deliver high-quality data solutions
  • Communicate product updates, insights and impacts effectively

What will you need to succeed?Must Have

  • 5-8 years of experience in product management on a data product or in a data-heavy environment
  • Both demonstrated acumen in the Data and Analytics space and excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experiences of data pipelines, ELT processes, cloud-based data platforms, data modeling, BI tools and data governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies (SCRUM, Kanban), Jira, Confluence, and backlog management
  • Understanding of Machine Learning and Generative AI techniques, capacities, applications, and limitations
