- Providing oversight of changes in the field during implementation activities in the project portfolio.
- Preparing detailed work packages, technical documents, work scopes, procedures, estimates, and schedules supporting reactor segmentation projects.
- Offering innovative solutions to dismantling and waste management challenges.
- Performing field walk-downs to verify the status of facilities against documented plans.
- Coordinating and monitoring services provided to the team by external suppliers.
- Participating in or leading Pre/Post Job reviews.
- Interfacing with design participants, operations engineers, technical staff, and other subject matter experts to obtain technical input for project and client requirements.
- Ensuring deliverables meet the project’s quality objectives and are completed on schedule and within budget.
- Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved design, work scope, budgets, and schedules following applicable change control processes.
- Travelling to external sites as required to execute the implementation phases of the project effectively.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What we are looking for:
- Education
- At a minimum, a Bachelor’s (Honours) in Engineering or Science from a recognized university or membership in an authorized engineering or scientific professional organization.
- Eligible for Membership in the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
- Experience
- Experience in a nuclear operational or decommissioning environment.
- Experience with decommissioning a nuclear facility is an asset.
- Experienced in dealing with engineering contractors.
- Awareness of the National Building Code, and National Fire Code, and how company program manuals apply to decommissioning.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to think logically through complex problems and work under pressure with conflicting priorities and regulatory requirements.
- High-quality technical writing skills, with the capacity to gather, analyze, and assemble various technical information.
- Proficiency in interpreting complex drawings and specifications in both paper and electronic formats.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, and Outlook) and ability to adapt to CNL’s formal document templates and approved forms.
- Experience dealing with engineering contractors and strong interpersonal skills to interact with team members, internal suppliers, operations representatives, external contractors, project stakeholders, CNL management, and client organizations.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Results-driven, with the ability to interpret project needs and implement effective solutions.
- Familiarity with safety regulations, guidelines, standards, and codes relevant to decommissioning.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply radiation protection principles, measurements, and contamination controls.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat’s “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions:
- Minimal supervision and self-motivation are required to achieve objectives through deliberate planning and execution of tasks.
- Extended hours may be necessary to meet project milestones.
- Occasional travel to external sites will be required.
- The work environment primarily consists of an office setting, with regular concentration on a computer screen.
- Routine site visits may be necessary, and adherence to all applicable safety protocols and CNL’s radiation protection policies may be required.
