Overview:London Borough of Harrow is looking for a Deputy Team Manager to join their First Response Team, within the Children and Young People services.The post holder will report to the Team Manager and will be responsible to deputise for the Team Manager as and when necessary and to assist in the execution of all managerial functions.Tasks will also include overseeing and quality assuring multi-disciplinary assessments recommended by the formal planning process, resulting in written statements and verbal evidence in care proceedings. In addition, they will assist Team Managers in supervising and supporting Social Care staff, to provide a range of family support services for children in need, including those in need of protection, children looked after, those subject to public care proceedings and where directed by the court those subject to private care proceedings.As a Deputy Team Manager the role will require taking responsibility for developing skills, expertise and knowledge for a wide range of practice issues and to provide consultation, coaching and mentoring within the Team, and across the Service as a whole. This will include taking responsibility to maintain and develop professional links and leads with partner agencies and the voluntary sector.Please note, this post is exempt from Section 4 (2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 as the duties allow the post holder access to children and young people under 18 years of age. About you:The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised professional Social Work qualification (e.g. Degree in Social Work, Dip SW or CQSW).
  • Experience of undertaking complex social work assessment and practice which take fully into consideration the child/young person’s background and lifestyle choices.
  • Ability to chair meetings and formulate child in need plans and children looked after care plans
  • Experience of formulating care plans which consider the range of services appropriate to children/young people and their carers/families.
  • Registered with the Health Professionals Council for admittance to the Social Care Register.
  • A working knowledge of all statutory duties and responsibilities relating to children and families, including:-
  • Legislation
  • Regulations and Standards
  • Government Objectives and Initiatives
  • National & Common Assessment Framework
